Forums - Sales - Chris Dring: PS5 sales in the UK during November was down 29% pre-black friday year on year. Nintendo consoles up 41% year-on-year.

The tidbits we get from Chris Dring contradicts VGChartz estimate that the trends in collapsing hardware sales is different in Europe compared to the US:

''In the UK during November, Nintendo console sales (Switch 2 + Switch 1) are down 19% year-on-year, PS5 console sales were down 57%, and Xbox sales were down 78%. Nex Playground is not availale in the UK. (NielsenIQ data)''

The UK is the biggest European market for PS, its not possible that sales are down 57 % year on year in the UK during November and PS5 breaking the sales record for console sales in November in Europe at the same time.

And yet, pretty sure it was cheaper than ever in the sales (it's still on sale btw) but those that wanted a PS5 have a PS5, 5 years in, consoles should be half the price before sales, selling to casuals not one of the most expensive pieces of tech most households will own.

"No Black Friday in this one. It's an odd tracking period"

Not sure how much of a difference that will make but an important tibit

I thought VGC overteacked Europe Nov 23 and 24, and iirc I was wrong on both. It's definitely overtracked this time.

A 57% drop in the UK is absolutely terrible considering the crazy deals.

Edit: "no black friday this time" is a hell of a thing to omit in the initial tweet lol. Is he counting black friday in the last year and not this year?

Edit 2: Black Friday isn't included in either year lol.

No BF week numbers chance the whole story lol, even if it wasnt THE BF WEEK, taking away a whole week from the month summary would make a considerable difference

We reap what we sow

Black friday 2025 is not included, but black friday 2024 was not included either. Was Black Friday this year so much stronger than black friday last year that PS5 would turn a 57 % decline to a new sales record? No.

We are talking about UK or the whole Europe? I am confused

It's just the UK. Sephiran is extrapolating.

The UK is the single biggest console market in Europe, and the biggest market for PS in Europe.

So if November 2025 PS5 sales had some sort of decline in the UK compared to November 2024 (The extent of the decline depends on BF sales 2024 vs BF sales 2025). It means it should be almost impossible for PS5 to have a new record month in Europe during November. Don't get me wrong, PS5 comfortably outsold Switch 2 in Europe during November. But its hard to think PS5 reached the numbers VGchartz predicted during November in Europe.
