Will be interesting to see how it runs. I feel like I was half right with my switch 2 predictions. I was half wrong, the image fidelity is better than I expected, but half right in terms of the resolution/fps being limited with memory bandwidth. I am very curious to see how Rebirth runs, because the game didn't run well on the ps5 but ran spectacular on PC.

Unrelated note, but Expedition 33, as far as I am concerned, but Square on notice. Best turn based rpg since the ps1 days, like seriously.

Yeah I was surprised at how much smoother rebirth ran on my laptop vs ff16.

Same.  I was running 16 at straight 1440p and getting 60-80 fps... Rebirth I was running at 4k and getting 100-120 fps.. and Rebirth looked better.  Rebirth was bigger and larger in open areas.  FF16 was a giant mess and (IMO) a bad game. The middle section of 16 was so boring.  Rebirth, outside the last boss fight, was really good.

Yeah, agreed 100%. Some parts of 16 run a lot smoother than other parts, the open world is smaller are smaller in scale compared to rebirth, and rebirth runs super smooth and looks a lot better.

I’m also curious how this game runs on the Switch 2. The PS5 version was jank. I usually prioritise performance over visuals, but the performance mode looked so blurry that I ended up sticking with graphics mode and enduring the 30fps horror instead.

Interestingly, FF16 ran better for me on PC than FF7 Rebirth did - though this was back when FF16 had frame generation and FF7 Rebirth didn’t. With DLSS Balanced and frame gen enabled, I was getting a smooth 4K 240fps experience in FF16.

Are you talking about Rebirth or Remake? Remake had great quality and performance on PS5. It also has a superior 30fps mode than Rebirth because camera motion blur is enabled and with just enough dials to makes it look pretty silky without being distracting (FF16)

FF16 had superior lighting and environment assets than rebirth, something I think gets over looked a lot because Rebirth had more contrast,  scale and better lead character models and particle effects.

For sure 16 was less efficient performance wise due to it coming from an ancient engine trying to appear modern.

Pretty much all of 16s environments holds up better under scrutiny compared to Rebirth but of course rebirth has an actual open world

Unfortunately it's an e-waste game key card, so it's a lost sale for me on Switch.

Remake ran fine on PS5. Rebirth had some issues but far from jank.  Jank is Alien Gate on the CDi.
