Forums - Gaming - Mount Rushmores for each console

One of the longest running questions/topics of discussion and debate is always "What is the Mount Rushmore of (insert topic here)."

From music, to movies, to sports, to food, to even everyday scenarios "The Mount Rushmore of annoying things through the day - Stuck in Traffic, Nonstop Phone Calls, A Boss who Won't Shut Up, a Disappointing Dinner Meal."

So I was watching my favorite LP channel, the Super Gaming Bros. (Good to have you back, Johnny, Elliot, Matt, and Greg!) and in one of their playthroughs during their Bat-a-Thon (A marathon of LPs for Batman video games) they mentioned their 'Mount Rushmore of SEGA Genesis games." And they each listed their own "Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Streets of Rage, etc.)

And that got me thinking, "Hmmm, what would be my Mount Rushmore of various consoles I've owned or of each console?"

So what say you guys? What are THE Four games you think of when you think of a particular system?

NES:

- Super Mario Bros. - It's Mario 1, nuff said.

- The Legend of Zelda - It's Zelda 1, nuff said.

- Metroid - It's Metroid 1, nuff said.

- Super Mario Bros. 3 - Still considered by many to be the best 2D Mario game and one of the best Mario games, period. And a blueprint than almost every 2D Mario game and various other 2D platformers follow.

-Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
-Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
DS
-Nintendogs

-Mario Kart 7
-Fire Emblem: Awakening
-Animal Crossing: New Leaf
PlayStation Vita
-Uncharted: Golden Abyss
-Persona 4 Golden
-LittleBigPlanet PS Vita

-Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
-Super Mario Maker
PS4
-Uncharted 4
-Marvel's Spider-Man

-Halo 5: Guardians
-Forza Horizon 4

-The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
-Super Mario Odyssey
-Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
-Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Those are enough platforms to start. Most of the defining PS3 games I played on PS4, despite the fact that I got a PS3 later on. Similar with Xbox 360 and Xbox One. A lot of GBA I played was ports.

In terms of general fame/importance, or our personal opinion?

Like, in terms of the most important Switch 1 games I'd go with BOTW, MK8, and Animal Crossing, but for me personally as someone who played BOTW/MK8 on Wii U and doesn't like Animal Crossing, my personal Rushmore would me more like Monster Hunter Rise/Mario Odyssey/TOTK.

NES:
Metroid
Zelda
Castlevania
Castlevania III

GB/C:
Pokémon RBY
Pokémon GSC
Metroid II
Kirby's Dream Land

SNES:
Super Metroid
Super Mario World
A Link to the Past
Final Fantasy VI

N64:
Pokémon Stadium
Pokémon Stadium 2

Guitar Hero Encore
MGS 3

GBA:

NDS:
Metroid Prime Hunters
New Super Mario Bros.
The main Pokémon games I guess
I don't like them, but the spots were open

Wii:
Metroid Prime Trilogy

New Super Mario Bros. Wii

3DS:
A Link Between Worlds
Monster Hunter Generations

So no one's putting Tears of the Kingdom on Switch's Mount Rushmore?

Either way. Or a mix of both, whichever works.

It just so happened that some of my choices happen to be games that were also very important to the system and by extension, gaming as a whole. While some of my other choices were more personal.

Example: I'm very much aware that Xenoblade 3 is nowhere near a famous or important of a game as Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, or Smash Ultimate - But I still include it because I love the game THAT much! XD

It just so happens that, for one reason or another, those are the four specific games I think of when I think of the Nintendo Switch.

Sega Saturn:
Nights Into Dreams
Resident Evil
Virtua Fighter 2
Panzer Dragoon

My personal picks would be:

SNES: Donkey Kong Country, Starfox, Yoshi's Island

N64: Banjo Kazooie, Ocarina of Time, Starfox 64

Gamecube: RE4, Metroid Prime 1 + 2

Wii: Super Mario Galaxy, Monster Hunter Tri, Xenoblade Chronicles

Wii U: Breath of the Wild, Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart 8

Switch: Monster Hunter Rise, Mario Odyssey, Tears of the Kingdom

Xbox: Halo 1 + 2, Panzer Dragoon Orta

Xbox 360: Halo Reach, Gears of War, Bioshock

PS1: Croc, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro

PS3: Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, Motorstorm
