Not trying to be tribalistic here, but to compete with the PS5 in sales you'd need something much better than Switch 2 specs. Your biggest games to showcase the value of the Switch 2 is an up-res version of pokemon ZA and metroid prime? People aren't going to be impressed with that and these consoles are big investments for the general consumer. Nintendo is playing it way too safe to be a competitor to PS5 but maybe in their business vision they don't even consider PS5 a competitor.

Also, if PS5 selling this much now, imagine what it will be selling during GTA 6 release. It could be a figure that we struggle to even imagine.

Switch 2's specs are great for the price (for a hybrid/handheld). GTA6's system selling effect will depend on console prices at that time. But it won't have a huge negative impact on Switch 2's sales. The Switch 2 should be able to beat PS5 next year with ease. And if it doesn't, the specs aren't to blame.

Are they though? Mobile phone level CPU. phone/tablet level amount of RAM with similar bandwidth speeds. The only semi decent aspect of it's specs is it's GPU but that's really only because of DLSS saving it. The PS5 specs are great for the price though, and that's why it's so popular and selling so well. Gaming is technological and tech specs are not something you can ignore and hope for the best. Why do you think Sony and MS spent so much on the R&D of PS5 and Xbox series? They know how important they are and they wouldn't do it for no good reason.

Yep, don't post anything related to to the topic itself, just a comment to ridicule one individual. A lot of people in this thread have been sceptical of switch 2 but you only picked my comment? Also, comments without any relevance to the thread itself is against VGChartz terms of use.

Thats some amazing ps5 sales fot lets be honest"launch prices" dont see no massive deals if its the same price as its launched.

If Mat knows the ranking of the most sold console during the Black Friday, he knows the sales numbers. So why doesn't he reveal them already?

Its just that I found your conclusion for this situation a bit disconected from videogame history, but to each their own I guess... Sorry if the way that I express myself was unwanted. I will now control on how to direct to yourself.

Now all things said...Keep the good work! I look foward to your great insights in the gaming scenario

Horribad take.

Switch 2 has fine hardware, performs as well/better than far PC handhelds that cost a lot more in a lot of cases. Of course it uses mobile components, it has to unless you want something that has 10 minutes of battery life and the size of a Game Gear (which would sell 500 units lifetime).

The Switch 2 is the first time in the modern 3D graphics era where a portable device can basically run modern generation console games. Star Wars Outlaws, Assassin's Creed, Resident Evil 9 Requiem launching day and date with the other versions, etc. etc. already prove it that will be the tip of the iceberg.

Every system these days would love to have more killer apps early on in the product cycle. The PS5 and XBox Series S/X had jack shit for exclusives in their first year as well. Game development cycles simply mean the early part of every new game platform will be padded hard by cross-gen releases. You can't magically pull a AAA release out of your ass in 18-36 months anymore like you could in the past.

In 2017, I was a casual consumer who spent several hundreds of hours playing Zelda BotW, SMOdyssey, MK8Deluxe, and Splatoon 2. It was my first year where I really started playing non-Skylanders/non-GameCube games. It was a very special period in gaming for me.

Back then, I had not even the slightest clue what people were saying about Switch. (And I think maybe it was better that way lol! I just always thought, “Man, Nintendo is finally back!! No more Wii/Wii U era Nintendo.”)
