I'm very into history, so any game in a historic setting somewhat qualifies. But I'm a real buff when it comes to the Great War (World War 1) and 7 years war (Sometimes called World War 0 due to being fought in Europe and the colonies around the world), So History Line: 1914-1918 was perfect for me, especially the war report at the end of each level that explains not just what happens on the battlefield, but also how the war affected the daily life of the people, especially in blockaded Germany.

Forgot to mention, I'm also big on space exploration (closely following this since the late 90's), which means that games in that genre, from Buzz Aldrin's Race into Space to Kerbal Space Program, also are of great interest to me.

Also on one, I would like to try the reverse: I love RPGs, but never got into the tabletop version of roleplaying, partially because I simply don't really know people who play those, and would really like to try whenever I would get an opportunity for this.

I enjoy board games, so I'm really into SRPGs since they are like board games with some extra mechanics

That's how I got into Civilization in 1991! However as an alternative to Risk at the time, then the game inspired me to play the board game of Civilization. With 1830 it went the other way around, first the board game then later playing it on PC.

Which then led to many more tycoon games.

I could also say my interests in road / road building from an early age translated into games with track editors and Sim City style games. Which then even became my work, working on digital streetmaps and GPS navigation.

It also inspired me to recreate the town I live in in Cities in Motion 2

Then I solved the traffic issues in out town by adding a strategic extra bridge lol. The county actually later thought about adding a bridge in the same place but is now planning a bypass route for 2050 with an extra bridge over the river to the top left in the screenshot.

And now it has sort of become a historical map since after I completed that our town has been going through many changes, going from 11.7K population to targeted 24K for 2050. Some of the new construction is already visible in the map yet so much more has changed.

From gaming back to real life, I studied the Master plan, road to 2051 from our County and made a poster with all the information to visualize all the proposed changes. Maps are my hobby, hence exploration is my nr 1 in games, just wandering around mapping the terrain and routes.

I collect coins. Do Mario Bros. games count?

I do not have (time for) many hobbies outside of gaming.
I do like being out in nature. Pick berries is one of my favorite things to do, especially cloudberries. Other berries like, raspberries and wild strawberries as well as mushrooms is enjoyable as well. I do not see much if any connection to what games I enjoy. They scratch completely different itches.

Language learning- I've tried various language learning videogames to aid my studies. None really all that great. Sometimes I play other games in foreign langauges to boost my comprehension.

Have you tried Shujinkou? It really helped me wrap my head around Japanese.

I already speak and read Japanese. But thanks for the recommendation. I'll check it out.
