Was this ever announced or was it just a shadow drop?

This game should have been on Switch 1 years ago. There were PS3/360 versions of the game. It looks like that is basically what it is. The "Switch 2" version is just the Switch 1 game running at 4K. It lacks the updated physics and improved textures from the actual "Definitive Edition" released on PS4 and XB1. On the bright side, it's apparently a 60fps game.

Yeah the fact this didn't come to Switch 1 til now is weird. Better late than never I guess.

Rise of the Tomb Raider should have come over as well as that had a 360 version. I'm guessing that both Rise and Shadow will hit Switch 2 soon in light of this.

Good news: on Switch 2 it's a rock solid 60fps at dynamic 4K resolution (PS4 failed at having a stable 60fps).
Bad news: Switch 2 is just the Switch 1 version uncaped, which means things like lightning, textures, hair and pop in all take a hit when compared to the PS4/XOne versions.

All in all, I think the Switch 1 version looks great given the hardware, but they should have made an specific Switch 2 version that had all the assets from the Definitive Edition. As it is, it's a weird mix between vanilla Tomb Raider (PS360) and DE that, while still looking good (and performs great), could look much better.

Love this game, but don't think I'll be picking it up again. Already own it and have finished it on PS3, Xbox One and Steam. I feel like the Switch 2 version is more of an after thought. They should have been able to match the PS4's graphics settings at least.

Wow, a 12-year-old game. It's nice to see third parties taking Nintendo hardware seriously...... Lol

I feel old...

From what I've heard, they implemented gyro menu navigation but not gyro aiming. which is the most backwards implementation I've ever heard of.

I already played this one on my Xbox 360 back in 2013, but for those Switch owners who didn't have a 360/ps3/XBO/PS4, it's a good game.

Switch 2 version is definitely an afterthought though.
