#35 - The villain of this sequel jokingly suggests a third installment is on the way, but it never materialized

#34 - The solo developer of this 2022 RPG was influenced by Xenogears, Suikoden, Chrono Trigger, and Final Fantasy VI

#33 - A lot of fans love the feline power-up in this game, but I think I prefer the cherry-based one

#32 - The antagonist of this game is "a wicked man of the desert"

#31 - This game that birthed a sub-genre was woefully misunderstood at first, with one key decision-maker saying later, "We definitely dropped the ball from a publishing standpoint, including studio management side."

34) Chained Echoes

31) A bit of a blind guess but Demon's Souls?

New clues.

#30

  • Originally a Sega Saturn RPG that was later ported to the PS1
  • Received a remaster in 2019/2020 alongside the second game in the series

#29

  • A Snake in the jungles of the Soviet Union
  • Your mentor defects to the soviet side after the opening mission, or so it seems at least

#28 Final Fantasy VII Remake

  • Set entirely in a city controlled by a company that is bleeding the world of its life

#27 The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel

  • Before this we had Sky, Zero, and Azure

#26 Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

  • Finally out in the world after escaping the city

I thought #30 was Lunar at first, but now I believe it’s Grandia.

29 is MGS3: Snake Eater.

Correct.

Current list - https://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=249858&page=1#6

Still a lot of unguessed clues - final go round for these. Tried to make them a bit easier now.

46 (incorrect guesses - Psychonauts)
- The playable character has the ability to enter people's dreams
- This was sort of like the PS1’s answer to classic Zelda.
- The NTSC version was simply titled after the protagonist. The European version added The Adventures of... to the title.

45
- You end up trying to solve everyone's problems whilst trying to solve your own.
- Both this title and its sequel took advantage of the features of the (incredibly successful) hardware it was released on - you even have to hold the handheld console like a book, allowing the dual screens to enhance the visual novel aspect of the game.
- This is named after the establishment where your character, a former detective turned salesman, stays for the duration of the game.

42
- Pink or blue - you will see one of these colours when you complete a level. It represents the colour of the clothing of the character you completed the level with.
- The two playable characters from the first game in the series must be saved.
- The final part in a popular trilogy of platformers released on 4th gen platform. It would be almost 15 years before another game bearing this name was released (which was made by a different developer)

40 (incorrect guesses - Banjo-Tooie)
- Obtaining the collectibles in this direct sequel is not quite as frustrating as the first game in the series.
- The playable marsupial was something of a mascot at the time for the hardware manufacturer, with it being their first console.
- This game introduced the sister of the main character, who then became playable in the following game.

39 (incorrect guesses - Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge)
- In some regions, this game had the same title as two other games in this well known series. In other regions, it had a subtitle.
- This game was re-released for modern consoles in a collection with two others from the same series. All three were first released on the same piece of hardware.
- This was initially a whip cracking launch title for a popular handheld.

38
- This sequel introduces multiple new enemies, but only one new weapon (and even then, it’s sort of an upgrade to an existing weapon).
- One of those new enemies can revive other fallen foes
- This FPS sequel to one of the most influential games of all time abandons the episodic nature of its predecessor.

#42 is DKC 3.
#40 is Crash Bandicoot 2.

Sorry but that's the only ones I could help you with.

Correct on both my raccoon friend - glad to have scratched a few off the list

39) One of the Castlevania advanced games but it's a blind guess which, Circle of the Moon?

38) Doom 2?

Had a slight mixup with the order again (hopefully the last) but my number 34 is Resident Evil 4 REmake. Another great Resident Evil, another great remake, what stands out the most with this one is perhaps how much they nailed the gameplay, no disrespect to the rest of the series but this one definitely stands at the top in that regard. In regards to the story I mean there is good and bad among the changes, the main cast are all really great in this one and the overall story is a little stronger, but yeah I do wish they'd kept just a few more oneliners and they really did my man Mike dirty with the random Texan accent.

Also a big shout out to the Wii version of the original which I didn't include this year but at least on some level is actually still one of my favorites, I just think going forward I'm probably more likely to play the remake.

Cop and alien team up in the definitive underrated Platinum hack-and-slash action-adventure. It's really really good and will probably never get a sequal which is really really sad.

Some absolute classics for me that I haven't played in many years but they definitely impressed way back then. Great puzzles, great story, most of the first in the latter game and the latter in the first game, but really they're both solid in both. The third and final game is... also a thing, don't think I've ever mentioned it before when writing about these. It has some high highpoints, but lacks consistency and even with a few flaws the first two games are way better in that regard.

Gonna try to catch up so here's some more hints.

30) Synthetic piano music

If Super Meat Boy took place on a mountain with strawberries

29) A land down under

28) Earthbound but it's occasionally monochrome

27) The titular character is back for the third time, better kill him again

26) A JRPG party named after a star

It's a good blind guess - Circle of the Moon is correct (as is Doom II). Circle of the Moon is simply called Castlevania in some regions (along with the original, and the N64 game)
