The older BF games were always about slower, more methodical gameplay, where the majority wanted to play the more strategic CtF mode most of the time. I'm also seeing people bragging about K/D ratios in chats and forums, which is yet another indicator that this title serves the CoD base, first and foremost, since this was never a huge thing with core BF fans back in the day.

I don't know, Metro was wildly popular and that map was pure chaos. And bragging about K/D is as old as online-shooters themselves. People did that way before CoD even was a thing.

I am quite satisfied with BF6. Sure, it's not the exact same thing as BC2, BF3 or whatever. But it doesn't need to be. It's a whole lot better than 2042 and although the maps are on the smaller side, it still feels very much like a Battlefield game.

Metro was my least favorite map, and it was widely used to level up skills (reviving-bonanza in the ticket hall was a huge thing). The map was predominantly used for spamming XP in choke-points in various ways, this was even a huge subject in chats ("popping over to Metro to level my Assault" etc.) I think Metro started the whole "noob-tube" discussion and server-wide bans on the use of RPGs in certain maps, due to its limited size. Metro was the exception though, whereas BF6 seems to have taken it as the mold for a lot of map design this time around. The maps that stayed the longest for CtF matches were usually the ones that allowed for all classes, as well as the various vehicles and vessels, to shine.

Sure, bragging about K/D ratios have always been a thing; but it was never a big thing for earlier BF games, due to their focus on squad-based gameplay and the popularity of the CtF mode, where K/D ratio is irrelevant next to tickets and team wins.

I think it's a solid release, don't get me wrong, but it's more influenced by the genre/space overall than previous titles. 2042 was a disaster for sure, the last properly fun and engaging BF for me was BF4. Caspian Border every day of the week!

Around the Network

This marks the start of Call of Duty's decline.

This is perhaps the first time a juggernaut like COD could have less sales than one of its competitors. Maybe people playing the game ("renting") on Game Pass will be enough but that's not people buying the game.

And EA FC26 too, though ultimate edition launch sales and standard launch sales were on separate weeks. It beat two juggernauts. I expect BO7 is going to sell worse than BO6 so the battle in Europe at least should be a win for BF!
