Forums - Nintendo - Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is out now on Switch 1 and 2

I enjoyed MK World and adored DK Bananza. I am only 3 hours into Prime 4, but I hope it gets better, so far I am very disappointed.

I don't like the lack of isolation. Dread absolutely nailed the isolation/Alien type feel, while Prime 4 has too much social aspects.

I loathe the lack of interconnected levels. Prime 4 reminds me of Dark Souls 2, hub area with random levels split off.

So far the game feels way too linear.. don't like that either.

The caveat being I haven't played much, maybe it gets better. On the bright side, 120 fps is absurd. Please update Prime 1 with 120 fps mode on the S2, it is fantastic.

edit:

Probably doesn't help I view Dread as the epitome of perfection.  One of the few games I've played where I would change a literal nothing.  It captured all things Metroid.

Probably best to approach it as a new beast altogether. Sometimes the comparisons don't serve you in enjoying the experience. I let go of FF16 being a follow up to some of my favourite turn based games and really enjoyed it for what it was, beyond some pacing issues and the RPG elements being too light to support its length

Finished the fifth region and got the final teleporter key; loved how Aliens-esque this "dungeon" was, with the descent into the "nest" and fighting alongside the marines. I know it's not traditional Metroid fare, but I had fun with it.

Almost finished the campaign, just gotta clean up the remaining shrines and mech parts in Sol Valley, then on to the finale.

I'm almost at the same point as you. I already got all the Mech parts and filled the full green energy meter. Looking for expansions right now.

Btw, I must say I've seen a lot of people complain about the whole green energy/crystal collecting quest because it supposedly makes you waste a lot of time in Sol Valley by the end of the game.

But by the time I finished the Mines I had collected like 3/4 of them. And since at that point you get both the weapon that breaks the huge rocks with lots of green energy AND a radar that shows green crystals and rocks on the map I fail to see how this is even a problem. At that point, it took me like 5 minutes to finish filling the meter.

Yeah I've been pretty lazy with the green crystals, just smashing them on my way to my next destination or in the shrines, and I'm like3/4 of the way there.

It is a bit of an old school design choice, kinda like collecting musical notes in something like Banjo Kazooie or something, but I don't have a problem with it.

Oh there is this cool FPS I played on Xbox you play as a lady in a cool sci fi suit. Shooting enemies and you get to turn into a ball. More games should copy this idea. Metal Eden.  ok ok for real while the game is cool it's not Metroid like even tho it has a ball form. Just thought it was funny and wanted to share. I am getting MP4 soon. I edned up with a Switch 2 sooner than I expected. Technically a gift. So is MP4 a little early.
