People are allowed to want to enjoy something. For me, I can't enjoy a game if it's too difficult, as frustration kills the fun.

Modding the game or offering an easy mode takes nothing away from anybody else. If you prefer it hard, don't worry about it, how other people play doesn't effect you.

But it does take from the experience of the person modding it. Imagine removing all the pitfalls in Mario and all the enemies except Goombas. Then you play Mario and aren't impressed at all saying "It's an ok game, just run left to right and hit the flagpole." They never get to experience the boss battles or airship fortress or flying through the sky. Hollow Knight is one of my top 10 games of all time because even though it is hard, you learn so much while playing it. The experience of beating Hollow Knight and being forced to learn different concepts makes the game ten times better.

There's plenty of games out there with an easy mode. Enjoy them instead.

I assume this has to be ragebait, so I won't even bother. I'd just like to point out that pizza marinara doesn't take cheese. And it's a traditional Neopolitan recipe, just as much of a pizza as Margherita or any other recipe.

Imagine going into a traditional Italian restaurant and asking for a hotdog pizza though. Just go to the local chain and order that hotdog pizza. I've had managers in college that politely refused to make a no cheese pizza. Pizza marinara isn't on the menu at 99% of places in the USA for a reason.

Most pizza in USA and in Australia has waaaaaaay to much cheese and ingredients. Neapolitan pizza is the standard for pizza and it uses much less cheese. It let's each ingredient shine.

I didn't mention marinara because I thought I was popular, I mentioned it because I thought it was funny that your idea of what would make pizza "unrecognizable" is actually one of the most traditional pizza recipes out there.

They aren't asking Team Cherry for an easy mode, by the way. It's closer to buying a regular pizza from a traditional Italian restaurant, going home, putting hot dogs on it, and enjoying it. And you, what I assume to be a fully grown adult, are mad about that. The modder is not complaining, not bothering Team Cherry, not berating anyone for liking Silksong's difficulty, not trying to pass the mod as "what the game should be", nothing. They just like Silksong's other aspects so much that they decided to put time into making playing it even more enjoyable for themselves.

There's a cool expression in Portuguese that roughly translates to "looking for fleas so that you can itch"—you're just looking for something to be mad about.

Well traditional pizza and American pizza are two different things. And yes going home and putting hotdogs on an expensive pizza from a traditional Italian restaurant would be stupid. Just buy the Little Caesars hot dog pizza or whatever. Just play one of the hundreds of metroidvanias out there that are medium difficulty or offer an easy mode.

You assume I am mad. I'm just pointing out that people should find another game to play instead of warping a game to be something they like. I'm also blown away by how lazy people are. Improving yourself is way more rewarding than just installing an easy mode mod and walking through the game.

I remember playing Ninja Gaiden Black on Xbox and it wrecked my face on the very first boss. It took me forever to realize that I was just relying on the dodge button when there was also a block button. Eventually, I got the hang of it and learned which attacks should be dodged and which should be blocked. This skill carried over to other games. Twenty years later it seems like a basic rule of hack n' slash games to me. I've walked up to a certain boss in DMC4 and no-hit beat him on the first try because "Oh he's just like Doku from Ninja Gaiden!". At first a game mechanic seems impossible or too hard. Then eventually you look back on it and go, "What was the big deal? This is easy now." And that happens countless times in difficult games like Hollow Knight. By the end of it you're a different player. And that personal growth is 100 times more enjoyable than walking through the game on easy mode.

Anyway the point of this thread was to point out that people that install that mod are only robbing themselves. Go play something else.

People are allowed to decide for themselves what kind of experience they want.

Some folks simply don't enjoy punishing difficulty, and that's okay. They may genuinely have a better experience if say enemies deal less damage or there's less lost progress upon death.

Why does it even bother you how others choose to play? Just play it the way you want and let others do the same.

I don’t like cheese, so I just don’t order pizza. I also don’t like the bread. Or the pepperoni. I don’t like pizza.

I never use mods because I want the authentic experience as intended, but it does not bother me if other people use mods.
Having said that, people crying all over the internet about how hard Silksong is, is kind of funny. I think it's valid to say that not all games are for everybody, just like sports or other hobbies in general.

As Curl-6 said, its their game, they are free to do whatever they want.
I think easy option should mandatory in all games, even souls-type, for people who simply dont have time to spend on learning Boss mechanics, but like the world and setting.

I dont see an issue with that especially if it doesnt affect other people since its a single player game.

Its like choosing to play Easy mode for a game or looking up a guide, some people just dont have the time or patience to spend hours and hours figuring out something especially with so much to do and so many games.

Edit: Telling someone to play a different game just because they want to make it easier is not a valid reason.

Now if a game made you motion sick, then that would be a valid reason to play another game (i.e. Bioshock Infinite causing some people to quit).

The funny thing is that there is already an easy mode built into Souls-like games. If you are having a hard time, you can just farm more souls or explore another area of the map until your character is OP for the boss you are stuck on. And on top of that, most of these games have an item combo like Guts' greatsword, or Giant Dad build that makes the game easy. Souls-likes aren't actually hard; they just don't hold your hand Nintendo style. The people installing this mod after three measly days just want everything spoon-fed to them quickly. They could be patient enough to find that one OP item or go exploring/farming. But they gave up.

If you change the rules of soccer so that you can use your hands, you aren't playing soccer anymore. That's because not being able to use your hands is a small but critical aspect of the game. If you want to play base'ketball or some other variation of a sport that's fine. Just don't claim to be a soccer player while playing a game that isn't soccer. In the vein of videogames, once you take the "difficulty" out of a game like Hollow Knight you've changed a critical aspect of the game. People who install an easy mode mod aren't playing Silk-Song. They are playing a different game that looks and feels the same but is not the same game. Imagine buying a guitar and instead of learning to actually play, you hook your system up to AI and prompt it to make your playing sound awesome. Now, imagine still claiming to be a guitar player. You aren't. You are doing AI-assisted karaoke. And people who use an easy mode mod aren't beating Silk-Song. They are beating a romhack. Both the guitar player and the Silksong mod enjoyer are posers.

And to that I say it's more mature to just accept that not everything is for you than it is to try to be one of the cool kids enjoying the new hotness. Just go play a different game. Otherwise you are as much a poser as someone that tries to pass store bought cookies off as their own recipe.

Honestly I think this is why some devs aren't so keen on PC, they see their work as art and mods are people changing their art...

But at the same time, yes to all of this lol.
