I mean I would love to be able to buy my third party games on a game card personally, I'm just saying, the Switch sold over 150 million and still a lot of publishers gave it only half-hearted support, I imagine they would have no issue just skipping Switch 2 if they were forced to pay cart costs.

switch had great support in the beginning, but it got to a point where the hardware couldnt keep up, especially once 9th gen consoles were released. i think we will see the same exact thing happen to switch 2. we will see good third party support for 2 years and then it'll fizzle out. oh well, who cares. again, appeasing them is pointless. all nintendo needs to do is sell a bunch and third parties will put games on their console. as long as there is not too significant a power gap, it will happen. should never come at the expense of what nintendo's vision for their consoles and games are though

I would actually say Switch 1 support remained quite good in terms of AA/indie stuff, it was more AAA fare that eventually became too far ahead graphically for ports to be viable.
Heck, even Post-PS5 we still saw stuff like Monster Hunter Rise, It Takes Two, Hogwarts Legacy, Crash Bandicoot 4, etc.
It was more some publishers like Capcom that (MH aside) kinda gave half-assed support.

Sometimes there just is no good option available. Game cards are expensive, and third parties don't want to pay for them.
I'm not a fan of Key Cards myself, I just buy games that use them digitally to cut out the middle man, but Nintendo can't just wave a magic wand and make a new cheap form of storage come into existence.
It's clear GKC are not popular, and Nintendo has released surveys asking for feedback on them, so hopefully something can be done in time, like smaller card sizes. I expect even then though, some publishers will opt out just to save cash.

Thats fine. Some dont want to pay for Blurays either, so thats just the way it is. Nintendo could offer smaller size carts and maybe work with third parties to compress their games better to fit carts. I mean Tears Of The Kingdom is like 11GBs and DK Bananza is like 10GBs. Its insane how good Nintendo is at doing this. Maybe its harder with a PS5 port, but at least offer some assistance maybe.

I do hope that something can be done, as I'd prefer proper physical releases myself.
I'm not defending key cards, (don't like them personally) just expressing that it is a tricky situation with no easy solution, and the decision is ultimately up to the publisher.
