Forums - Nintendo - Resident Evil 9 Requiem Is Apparently Coming To Switch 2 (And PS4)

According to Dusk Golem at ResetEra, RE9 is coming to Switch 2 and even PS4. This leaker is generally pretty much dead on with their Capcom reports.

This would mark the first mainline Resident Evil game to be on a Nintendo console since RE4 released on the GameCube in early 2005 (aside from years old ports and Cloud only releases).

Between this and the Final Fantasy mainline games coming back to the Switch 2, Persona and Yakuza already becoming a regular on the Switch ecosystem too, Nintendo has essentially most of the big ticket Japanese IP again. Dragon Quest is a given at this point and was already on Switch 1 anyway.

If true, and if the port is competent, I'd pick it up for sure.

I was hoping Capcom would take Switch 2 more seriously, as their support for Switch 1 was a mixed bag in spite of the console's enormous success. Having Street Fighter 6 and Kunitsu-gami there on day 1 was a promising start, hopefully many more of their games make their way over.

Final Fantasy (particularly the FF7 series) and Resident Evil were the two big Japanese IP I wanted back on a Nintendo console, so that pretty much already seems sealed up for that.

These are big gets for the Switch 2.

I think MH Wilds is going to happen on Switch 2 also, there's just too much sales potential and the botched release and terrible legs of the game on console/PC thus far makes the extra sales Capcom could get on Switch 2 just become much more attractive. Even if they have to optimize  the shit of the code from the ground up and take like a year doing so, I think they will do it. Not a big deal, brand new games from the ground up take years of development and most of them won't sell like what any kind of mainline MH will on the Switch 2 (millions of copies potentially).

Also maybe RE is finally gonna get a Smash Bros. rep in the next Smash game (Leon? Jill?).

Cool, now we only need 8, 7, 4 remake, 3 remake, 2 remake, Code Veronica X, 3, 2, 1 and Outbreak remastered collection.

I will pick RE9 on Switch 2.

PS4ever...

According to the leak I saw the S2 and ps4 version will be different assets, like rebuilt assets. No idea if true.

Console generations are clearly dead. Once physical dies, consoles will be basically PC.

What do you mean by "console generation" ?

Like ps3 games weren't on the ps2.  Ps4 games weren't on the ps3.  Generations were defined by software which isn't true anymore.

But today games are super expensive and scalable.  So basically games will be designed with scale in mind and available on a wide range of hardware.

Basically how PC works.  Most games still work on a 1080 from many years ago.  A 2080 plays everything despite the 5000 series being available and "current gen."

So consoles will be wide ranging in options but most all games will be available, just a matter of what fidelity the consumer wants.  Again, like PC.

Edit

Personally I think this is a good thing for two reasons.

A) increased user base means developers can continue to push graphics, size and scope.

B) having a nes, snes, n64, ps2, ps3, ps4 to play collections is just annoying.  Steam is amazing because one piece of hardware and I can play 99% of games.

I think consoles are figuring out what makes PC so damn good.

This comment makes no sense. Sony cannot control what platforms third parties decide to support.
