always found it interesting that people are leaving blue states for red states...

Florida gets more federal bailouts than anyone with hurricane relief. Trump does want to cut Fema, so we'll see how that goes. Far left states like California, New York, Minnesota etc taxes bailout quite a few red states that would go bankrupt if they didn't get that sweet sweet federal money bailout every year. States like Alabama, South Carolina, Kentucky, Alaska, Mississippi, and many others get a lot more money from the federal government than they pay in taxes.  Texas is one of the few red states that could fund itself.

And?  People are not leaving blue states for red states because hurricane relief.  They are leaving because leftist policies made many blue states financially non-viable for the middle class.  Which is odd because so many think they take such good care of people, lol.

A couple things about your right side examples. Is freedom of speech a right wing view? I don’t think the right gets to claim that after the current administration has defunded universities, deported students and sued networks. The right likes to complain about cancel culture but are just as bad about it, boycotting Carhartt during the pandemic for having mask mandates for employees, boycotting Bud Light for having a trans person in an advertisement, boycotting M&Ms because the female M&M started wearing sneakers instead of “sexy” boots, boycotting The Little Mermaid because “mermaids aren’t black!”……the list goes on.

Also, as a straight, white man, I’ve never once felt penalized for being any of those things. Things like affirmative action were put in place because women, minorities & LGBT people weren’t getting equal treatment. Even with policies and programs to help, these groups are still statistically more likely to be denied things like employment, wages, housing, loans, higher education, etc. Policies helping certain groups of people=/=other groups are being punished.

The alt right engages in cancel culture too, absolutely, nowadays though I find most of the restrictions on expression come from the alt left.

I simply believe people should be treated equally regardless of things like race or gender; the solution to discrimination is to stop discriminating.

Maybe it’s different where you are but in the US we literally have a right wing administration that is defunding universities and taking away student visas over protests about Gaza, sending the National Guard into cities because people are protesting ICE raids and suing television networks because they edited an interview or reported a story he doesn’t like. Because of that, any argument about freedom of speech being a right wing view is flat out laughable.

“The solution to discrimination is to stop discriminating” what exactly does this mean? Just sounds like a catch phrase without any substance. If women, minorities & LGBT people are being denied opportunities or having rights stripped away from them, how do you fix that? Also, please give me actual examples of white people or men being penalized for being white or male.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Didn't some comedian get arrested yesterday at heathrow because his tweets were mean and rude?

Yes, I don’t see how that’s a counter argument to what I said?

Curl said that he shares the right’s views about freedom of speech, I gave many examples of how the right does not actually support free speech. You can’t be the side of free speech while defunding universities, deporting students & suing networks because you don’t like what they say or by trying to cancel anything you view as “woke”.

My argument isn’t that the left supports free speech, my argument is that free speech isn’t a right wing view.

Wasn't directed solely at you.  The previous page was about cancel culture and I saw a headline yesterday, didn't follow the full story, but seemed like it fit cancel culture.  Also the whole boycott Hogwarts Legacy is another example.  For the record I hate cancel culture on both sides.  Free speech means hearing things you don't like, part of life.

Also why do billionaire colleges even get federal funding?  Harvard has an endowment of $53,000,000,0000...  they need my tax dollars why?

The US is something of an outlier among the developed world because they have a hard right government at present.

If you treat people the same regardless of race or gender, then equality will arise naturally from the fact that no race or gender is actually superior.

I lean right. But I am not a political party. Tell me the issue and I tell you where I stand on it.

Someone wrote in this thread something interesting: people on the right would not mind harming others if it benefits themselves. And I think in the same way people on the left will not mind harming others if it benefits the community of their choice. If a lack of empathy is what perverts the right, it is a surplus of empathy that perverts the left. And I am far more fearfull of the latter. The path to hell is lined with good intentions. (And it is always the question of being empathetic towards whom.)

Where I come from legal and uncontrolled illegal mass immigration is such a big issue, that everything else pales in comparison. Very interesting and potentially very dangerous political times ahead.

The Trump Admin recently blocked a French scientist from entering America because he said mean things about Trump.

I think that makes us even at the minimum, Lmao.

Like I said, the US is a notable exception to this currently due to the Trump administration being both far to the right of most Western governments and unusually vindictive in how it wields its power.
