Reminds me of some of the treatment Sony gave to PS3 titles on PS4 because of the lack of backwards compatibility and PS3 is the least successful PlayStation home console to date while it still was far more popular than Wii U.
Nintendo has and will continue to release Switch 2 Editions but as you said it isn't the same as Wii U to Switch.
