Forums - Nintendo - Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is coming to Switch 2

Nice. I still need to play Infernal Machine. Got the N64 version last year but have been too busy to plug in the 64.  Really hope this port turns out great since the game is the best Indy content this millenium.

Given the games silky smooth 60fps and solid resolution on all platforms, I think the S2 game will come out looking good.

I forgot what developer said it but I think they were on the ball by suggesting any game with a good 60fps version on Series S should make a good S2 30fps port. DLSS will handle the resolution cutback and reduced density/draw distance will help get the CPU performed to a respectable level.

The game has had great reviews but the first person view has put it a bit further down my priority list, just not quite what I imagine for Indiana Jones. But that also makes it a great candidate for something I'm more likely to play casually on the Switch 2

I think this is a fair assessment.  Most current gen ports will be top out at 30 fps, which everyone is entitled to their opinion there.  Some graphical cut backs, resolution mostly fine via DLSS.

I haven't played it yet, it is on my wishlist, but I will be going PC.

I'll be shocked if the game is offered physically on cart.  120 gb, even if cut back is a tough order.

It's 87GB on XSS - lot of lower quality assets, aimed at 1080p.

Oh, and definitely play on PC, some things like global illumination and volumetrics are, even on XSX/PS5, lower than lowest on PC - not to mention that PC version has Path Tracing option, which, though it kills performance (you drop to 40-50%, depending on the scene), looks splendid.

Yeah given that it holds 60fps pretty consistently on Series S at or around 1080p, a stable 30 on Switch 2 with decent image quality should be doable; cut it to a dynamic 900p or so and use DLSS to keep image quality sharp, trim things like shadow and AO quality, LODs, etc.

Fair point.  Getting 87 gb down to 64 gb via lowering resolution and using DLSS..  yeah, seems possible, yeah?

Yeah, I fully intend, moving countries at the moment, giving Indiana a play this winter.  I want to demo path tracing just to see it.  Likely I will want to target 90 fps for most of my play, but will certainly check out the various graphical settings.

edit

I am digital only so it doesn't impact me, but I feel bad for physical people, key cards are just stupid.  I don't see the advantage over digital.

Well, 4090 (IIRC, you have that), runs it at 1440p/DLSS Quality, maxed out with PT, at ~75fps. So you'll probably have to lower few things to hit 90fps, or go to DLSS Balanced/Performance.

or just be happy with 75 fps.  I mean 75 fps isn't bad by any stretch.

This individual game doesn't do anything for me -- I tried to enjoy it on Xbox Series but couldn't -- but I do love what it potentially signals for future Microsoft Gaming support on Switch 2.

It is fairly solid adventure, especially if you're Indiana Jones fan. But it gets a bit repetitive and as Indiana Jones game I'd say it's nowhere near as good as Fate of Atlantis.

Related, by side comment, the Xbox brand is just terrible. Why buy Xbox? Games on PC, switch, ps5..... my interest in Xbox is just dead.
