Really enjoyed the first two, so Im in.

That style is becoming the auto-tune of 2D RPGs. I’m already over it. Sadly it will be a thing for the next 20 years. Thanks, Cher.

It's cheap to make and nostalgic, yeah it will be a thing for as long the first generation of gamers is alive

Yeah we got a lot of them know, but I also think it is a style that will age well.

I would not mind though if SE would apply it to a game that is more lighthearted. I think the Octopath games writing and voice delivery is a bit dry and too serious for my taste.

Nothing sadly about it the style breathes new modern life into the classic approach much like 2.5D did for many sidescrollers and Metroidvanias I'm glad it's around as it's a new style with it's own merits. I'm going through DQ3 and it's made a world of difference over other versions.

Coming to PS5, Xbox and PC as well.

I still need to play the first two - I'll get this one later.

No, it's great, and I am pretty sure I saw a similar sentiment from someone on forums about cel shading in the early 2000s. It's a style. Most RPGs don't use it.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

Its trademarked by one company, no other company has made games in this form.

If its easy to make games in this design/engine, I'd say go for it - better than waiting years and years for one game.

Yep, I meant to say, “Thanks, Square.”
