I was one of the people who didn't care at all about the controversy but still disliked the video just to jump on the bandwagon for fun. |
Yeah me too if I'm honest, lmao
I'd fallen off COD at that point as I didn't have a PS4/XBO, but I did feel for those who felt they weren't listening to fan feedback and that BF1 looked way better.
Feels like deja vu this year, albeit a bit less extreme, with Black Ops 7 being met with a lot of negativity and BF6 getting people excited.

Back in February last year there was a report that BO7 didn't even have a main developer assigned to it yet so I'm curious if reception will be even worse than MWIII. They really need to either take a year break or get a 4th studio so each game can have 4 years of development. Three main studios just isn't cutting it now.

Yeah their death march insistence on getting a new game out every year is just getting absurd. Modern games are just too big and time consuming, it's not sustainable.
BO7 isnt dropping last gen like Battlefield 6, that will hurt it sales wise and CoD definitely has the bigger brand still. Battlefield looks good but I think consumers still prefer the more arcade like gameplay along with smaller maps.
Just got done with a couple hours of tinkering and playing my first few matches. I haven't really gotten into a BF game since 3 but I'm really enjoying what I'm playing so far. It's polished, intuitive, and definitely action packed. I used to enjoy Assault and Recon most but right now I'm just having fun backing my team up as Support or Engineer. I'll use the rest of the testing period to decide but if this keeps up it'll be my first proper BF game in - Jesus... - 14 years.

The open beta is officially Steam's second most successful of all time at over 318,000 players, with only Monster Hunter Wilds being bigger:

Bodes well for sales when the full game releases.
Battlefield 6's beat has topped 520k concurrent players; higher than any Call of Duty game:
Meanwhile, Activision reportedly aren't worried about the competition, as they apparently think that COD is "too big to fail":

I have not yet had the privilege of enjoying it for myself, but I can not resist watching some of the live gameplay streams. Hopefully these tens of hours in as an observer translate into some form of prelaunch experience.
Looks great! Likely day one, but I will not preorder.
...to avoid getting banned for inactivity, I may have to resort to comments that are of a lower overall quality and or beneath my moral standards.

Playing the Open Beta right now...
Downsides:
* Visually the game is pretty outdated. No RT effects at this stage.
* Destruction is all predetermined and is hit and miss.
Upsides:
* Can run on a toaster, I was under 8GB of VRAM used at 1440P with all settings maxxed, no upscaling... So ran at full fat 4k on my Ryzen 5950X, Radeon 9060XT 16GB and never dropped below 75fps. Should hold up super well on the old Xbox Series X and Playstation 5.
* Gameplay is rock solid. Seems EA is dialing in the "experience".
* Servers seem stable for a change.
All in all, I am pretty keen to grab a copy on release day if the full game can stand up to the quality of the Open Beta.
