Forums - Sales - Ubisoft's development costs for games on different platforms

Yeah, PS3/360/PC costs the most, it's also where the most money is made...

But the most money is made on these three fronts.

Assassin's creed is at 6 mil probably closer to 7 or 8 once you add in PC sales, so I'm pretty sure at sixty bucks a pop, it's done well for Ubisoft. And it's triple the price of the Wii for triple the audience/sales.

Plus you get a better looking, better sounding and in most cases a generally more exciting game on PS3/360/PC. Money well spent...

So Wii development is 3 times cheaper than a PS3/360/PC development, interesting..

I remember the thread about people flipping out that Uncharted supposedly cost $20 million and it makes more because it is a first party and Ubisoft made a game that cost $28 million? Wow.

Interesting. I thought Wii development would be much more cheap, considering that for three platforms (PS360PC) doesn't has that big of an increase.

But again, this is UbiSoft anyway.

I actually expected 360/PS3/PC games to be more that double of what Wii games kost... not just do you need to create hi-def content but you have to port it to two different platforms...

As far as i know, EA has given the best breakdown about the cost for porting, which is (max.) 15% of the overall cost. Which would mean that porting to two platforms, would increase the cost by 30%. Edit: LOL @RP

Thanx... that makes sence... with rising developement cost it makes little sense to release a high-def game on only one platform if you can potentially tripple your sales for 30% increased cost... that explaines why there are less exclusive games on high-def platforms...

In general, he said that the company has realized 25 percent of its total in 'casual' play styles and genres, and that the profit margins on casual games is "one of the best," with the most profitable titles.

Leading on from this, an Ubisoft executive gave a breakdown (...)

On topic:

Why does that Ubisoft guy say that Wii games are expected to cost X amount of money? Does that mean that so far they don't have any actual figures?

Maybe they mean full games, not just casual games (have they released any "full games" yet?)

@ munkeh

So far, all I think of is RRR and NMH. Those are the only Wii games I think they put out.
