Mario Kart so far. I'm suspecting Donkey Kong will pass it for me though. Death Standing does nothing for me. Clair look alright, I'll probably play it at some point.
The longer I sit with Death Stranding 2 I feel better about it. It's not a masterpiece like Expedition 33 but there is something special about it still and an easy 10. Death Stranding 2 is the last time I felt happy, I tried to get a DS1 playthrough going but it's just not the same. DS2 is a generational leap in visuals, the first one we've got on console and easily the best cinematography and VA in a game ever, Troy bakers performance is akin to Heath Ledgers Joker. It's still not knocking E33 but it's closing the gap, although it is one massive valley between them.

Then they made the decision to separate the cutscenes out short and no big moments for so long and the game has lost what it was. It's the end game experience done better from the start but the core experience (which is definetly improved) loose something sticky. If this is a 10 it will be because of the Platinum but I can't see this being a 10 based on it's main path and even if it is a 10 when all is said and doen Expedition 33 is a far, far stronger 10. Something is lost from DS1, perhaps it's a game you shouldn't try to do twice. |
It ended up being a 10 and not just for the platinum, although that helped quite a bit but for it's meat and bones too despite the labor I was feeling when I wrote this comment... actually, without the platinum this game would probably be a 9 and I can't say I would have 100%'d it without those trophy goals.
My personal GotY so far is Donkey Kong Bananza, but I expect Expedition 33 to win the most GotYs this year.
