4 Days and already over 3.5 million, what happened to the console being overpriced hahaha, turns out it was an small group on the internet and that was it.

nah it was everyone on the internet. And it is overpriced, that's objective. But just because millions of people are upset about the price that doesn't mean there aren't millions of other people ready to pick it up day 1. Also I'm sure there are plenty people who are not happy about the price but picked it up anyway. Being overpriced and having a huge launch are not mutually exclusive. The real question is are sales still booming later on in it's lifecycle. The launch was always gonna be ridiculous because so many people were waiting for it.

All three of the systems that were successors to 150+ million selling systems have been overpriced cuz the companies got greedy after such dominant successes, but of the three S2 is probably the least overpriced and also the most desirable, and also it's coming out mid-gen against the consoles so that helps since it's the only new thing around for years before and after.

Anyway, the fact that it absolutely demolished every previous system launch is awesome, and even more crazy is that it did that despite being overpriced and pretty much everyone being pissed off about the greedy pricing! Clearly there was a lot of pent up demand for next gen Nintendo after 8 years of arguably the most popular system ever.

$450 is not an excessive price for a new gaming system in 2025, the console standard has been $500 for years now.

Very curious to see what the regional breakdown will be.
Based on reports, we got 468k in just the UK, France, and Spain alone - Imagine what that number will be if you include the rest of Europe.
And then imagine North America and especially Japan - Oof, this week's Famitsu report is gonna be fuuuuuuunnn!!!

Incredible time for Nintendo. The Switch 1's success carries straight over to the Switch 2.

This is around 1 million more than I was thinking before the first numbers came out. The estimation of ~900k for Europe seems to be spot on, now we just need to wait for Famitsu, 1 million units in Japan is not off of the table

Could look something like this:

NA: 1.2 million
EU: 900k
JP: 1 million
ROTW: 400k

3,5 million units in 4 days, the haters are crying rigth now haha

34 years playing games.

Oh, I know EXACTLY what the haters, nay-sayers, and doubters are gonna say now.

"Lolz, yeah, ok, biggest launch of all-time. But EVERY console has an amazing launch. It's POST-launch that makes or breaks a system. THAT'S when Switch 2 is gonna.... FaLl OfF a ClIfF!!!"

The road to 180M begins

I say we aim big. 2.5x Switch 1 launch means 2.5x Switch 1 lifetime means 375M.
