- Considering their unwillingness to subsidize on any kind of products anymore, I'm willing to bet this is gonna be EXTRA costly, close to a grand maybe ?

The white one is using a rebranded Steam Deck APU with a larger battery, so I'd be very surprised if it's much above $500.

The black one, though...

You can play your Xbox library on any gaming handheld PC with the requisite specs.

Only if they are play anywhere titles or you specifically bought them for PC. Or did I miss something?

Where did you read/see non-play anywhere titles are playable? This is what the press release says.

"We’re also making handheld gaming more seamless through our investment in Xbox Play Anywhere. With support for over 1,000 games, a single purchase means you can play with Xbox, including your progress and achievements, across Xbox console, PC and Xbox Ally—at no additional cost. And when you power on your Xbox Ally or Xbox Ally X, your favorite games are already there, ready to play. Whether you’ve been gaming on Xbox console, Xbox on PC, or in the cloud, everything syncs effortlessly. With Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) or Remote Play, you can access your full Xbox console library and keep playing—wherever you are."

It seems like Xbox console library is only fully supported through Remote Play/Cloud Gaming, which is also true when you play on a gaming PC/handheld.

Yeah, but it seems to be are also updating retroactive games to work with Remote or Cloud gaming. For some users a few of them 360 BC titles are popping up in the Pc app (probably the teams testing it).

is this not just a ROG Ally with some Xbox marketing attached?

Not really, they are using different APUs, regular is the same as Steam Deck (which is bit disappointing), X version has Z2 Extreme, which should be some 30% faster than Z1 Extreme in regular ROG Ally X.

Plus, that software library integration and Windows gaming mode that trims down Windows bloat seem really good.

Alright, it seems I misunderstood that.

The biggest new thing seems to be related to the UI then.

So many games are dropping this is getting drown out.

This gives more credence to the idea of the next Xbox console being a lot more PC like. Play Anywhere getting pushed a lot more combined with this plays in well to the this is an Xbox ad campaign.

I tend to stay away from Linus, but bump into this video - they already have one in their hands:

It's going to be the most powerful handheld on the market when it releases, but also probably one of the most expensive.

I just hope they put a USB C port on the bottom for TV docks, it was always cumbersome having to put it into a dock then plug a cable into the top of the device.
