Haven't had much time for gaming these past couple of years. When I do get a chance, it's usually on my mobile for my daily Hoshi puzzle and helping out my siblings in Pikmin Bloom, or on the Switch when I'm hanging out with people. I might be losing some personal interest in console gaming, but I have high hopes that Mario Kart World will change that.

I did contemplate returning to PC gaming and building a rig last gen, but the expense held me back. This is despite having a large library on Steam/GOG/EGS/EA/Uplay/itchio, the amount of time I already spend on a PC for work makes the idea of a desktop less attractive. This is why I transitioned to the portability of laptops, as they better suit my lifestyle. That said, the potential of a Steam Deck 2 is still quite interesting.

Right now I'm probably something like 85% PC, 14.8% Mobile and 0.2% PS5.

As for what I used to be:

  • In the 90's I was pretty split between Sega and Nintendo. When I was very young I borrowed my cousins NES and owned a Gameboy/Gameboy Pocket, before moving on to a Sega Megadrive and Gameboy Colour in the late 90's.
  • After the Millennium I moved into camp Sony, picking up a PS1, then a PS2 and eventually a PS3 during 2007. Nintendo still has a presence as I got myself a Gamecube during Christmas 2005. Additionally I continued to get Nintendo's handhelds including the GBA, GBA sp and DS Lite.
  • The PS3 gave me my first taste of internet access from home, which got me interested in a laptop, which got me into PC gaming. At first I was just playing emulators, but as the years progressed I got more powerful PC systems and the PC became my go to platform, whereas the PS4, 2DS and PS5 were barely used.

I swap around all the time. I've owned every PS/XB/Nintendo console released after I was born, and always have had a PC for gaming too.

This year I've mainly played on 3DS/Steam Deck/360. I'd say Steam Deck is probably going to be my main system this year but I'll get a lot of use out of the Switch 2 in the latter half of the year.

Retro mostly.

So. Sega and Atari, Panasonic... Surely you'd NES or PS1 a chunk of the time? No...

PS2 at the moment and plenty of GOG titles. I will play wizardry VIII next.

Well, the first two PlayStation controllers (digital + analogue) and the current PS5 controller are missing in this picture. Over the whole series, there were a lot of changes (especially in the weight).

My first Xbox original controller (controller S) on the other hand (pun intended) is pretty close to the Xbox Series controllers:

I never had the Duke controller... and I'm glad for it.
