Yeah the disc drive is really the only reason why I'm interested, along with the affordability compared to other clone consoles. I have a collection of PS1 games and some original controllers. Not sure if the memory cards work anymore lol but a couple of consoles I had died over the years, so it would be nice to have a console that won't die and still be able utilize my game collection.

Hopefully they allow for original BIOS files to be uploaded so I can't get that OG PS1 boot up screen

The MiSTer not only allows for you to put a BIOS file in there, it requires it.  And yes, it means I see the PS1 boot screen every time!

Unless Taki Udon plans on customizing it in any meaningful way, I assume this Superstation will be the same.  And the nice thing is, if you have a CRT TV that allows for it, you can get a significantly better signal (RGB, SCART, Svideo, or Component) than the OG PS1 ever was able to get back in the day.  And of course, you can also do HDMI to a modern TV if that's your thing too.  If I didn't already have a working PS1 and a MiSTer, I'd be all over the Superstation.

Started with Atari when my father randomly brought a 2600 home for my older sisters.

Went to Nintendo with the NES and SNES but was pretty casual about it, probably because it was a rich kid hobby back then.

Bought a PS1 from Sony because of Final Fantasy 7. Some of the most effective advertising in modern history.  Moved to the PS2 but I didn't love it as much as the original.

Got my first PC and lost myself to MMOs and World of Warcraft.

After I ditched the MMO addiction, I looked into consoles again.  Picked up a PS3 late in the generation because it had several games that interested me, such as Valkyria Chronicles.

However, it soon became obvious to me that I much preferred playing on PC.  I doubt I ever go back to consoles.

I've been following this for a while now.  It's essentially a MiSTer FPGA in a Playstation-ish shell.  It's cool that they're doing a disc drive.  Though for those who would like something like this but are cool with just supplying ROMs/ISOs, the normal MiSTer FPGA does all of this (minus the discs).

Should be fine. My PS1/PS2 memory cards all work

I think MMOs should be classified as a controlled substance and I'm not even joking. Lost about 5 months to FF14 and it done far more damage than any drug I may or may not have taken for supposedly less or more time than that.

No kidding! I played WoW very often, at times religiously, from 2005-2011. How I managed to convince my dad to pay for my monthly subscription until I got a job in high school, I'll never know lol. I probably have at least 3000 hours in WoW during that timeframe.

When WoW Classic launched, and then Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King, I REALLY had to be careful only to play for a while

I would say somewhere around 90% Nintendo. 10% Xbox or Playstation.

I always played more Nintendo stuff, but nowadays alot of my gaming is during my commute.

80% PC, 20% other.

Last year was a lot of PS though with all the JRPGs released. This year... not so much.

I was not expecting this, I thought it would be 60 and 70 percent Nintendo on this site, only a third is very surprising. Gonna try and keep this thread bumped for a bit to see if more data comes in.

Nintendo still more than PS and XB combined though. So in that aspect, you wouldn't be far off.

Nintendo fan since I got an SNES for Christmas in 1994, but game on all three console platforms plus occasionally PC.

For the last few years I've been like 60% Nintendo Switch, 20% PS4/5, 20% retro consoles, but for this year so far I've been trying to clean up my backlog before Switch 2 hits so it's been like 40% Switch, 40% Xbox 360, and 20% Wii/OG Xbox.

I hate making random suggestions and making assumptions but put down the backlog for now, if you are a life long Nintendo gamer and have been there for the turn based RPGs, FF to Mario... go buy Clair Obscur Expedition 33 right away. Drop everything else an play it. Thank me later for the immense joy it'll bring you.

Not my thing sadly, I really hate turn based gameplay. Hope it does well though, we need more successful new IPs and AA titles.

Probably 80% PC, 15% PS, 5% Nintendo.

I'm considering getting a Series X for the backward compatibility, though.
