Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Switch 2 Physical Game List

Well I've been debating if I bother updating this thread or not as the shear volume of disappointment grows each day. I am at a point where I may actually sell my first Nintendo console or throw it out the window to get some joy out of it.

Then finally something I thought would never happen, Nintendo has joined the stupidity game:

Nintendo can cover their butts with their statement earlier this year because they said they had no plans for Nintendo-developed games to use Game Key Cards. Omega Force is not a Nintendo developer.

The precedent makes me uncomfortable. So many first party games can be key-cards with this reasoning (Fire Emblem, Kirby).

Agree since they are still the publisher. It is their console, and they shouldn't let this kind of thing slide just because they are not the developer.

The harsh reality is that physical is on its way out.

Most consumers buy digitally now, and that percentage increases with each passing year.

In a few years, physical will be next to irrelevant and relegated to a niche thing for collectors.

I am all for digital as I use Steam but Nintendo's DRM is over the top.

They need to make it consumer friendly.

If I log into a console with my account I should just play the damn thing. Not eject this on one system or transfer that, locked to a console code etc.

Steam is simple every time a laptop dies on me I get a new one, and just reinstall, if I got three laptops I can install it on all three. I don't get send on a side quest to unlock the game I purchased already. Who has time for that?

There's definitely room for improvement, yeah. I believe the Virtual Game Card system is optional though, and you can revert to the old system.

I feel like we need to get used to digital as going forwards there's just not always going to be the option to own a game physically, on any platform.

While I'd prefer proper game cards releases for all big Switch 2 games, I'm not gonna pass on say RE Requiem or 007 First Light just cos I can't get them on a piece of plastic, I'll just download them from the eshop like most people do.
