Deserves it. I hope the FF player base takes note of this and the word that this is an modern version of old school FF games spreads and this gets that crowd in en masse and sells more than FF16... one can hope.

For Steam I prefer games with detailed menus that work better with mouse and close and smaller screen

For PS5 I prefer games with more detailed environments and Full HD support, as well better controls with Dualsense. The couch is also simply more comfy to play in

On Steam it's selling 180 BRL, or PS Store it's 250 BRL

It is very competent and natural with a controller but I can't see why it would loose anything on PC. The hair is a bit off on console and slight ailising so of you have a rig that can up that go for it but tbh it's a game that's perfect in quality mode and graphics and performance are great, smoothest 30 fps next to Alan Wake 2, better perhaps cause this mobe faster. I'd stay with PS5 even if I had a PC that could do better visuals as there is no need at all for high frames. 

I'd sat save the money, hook your PC up to your TV for this one and get an app to use duelsense on on PC and you get the best of all worlds...apart from the Platinum which looks really fun. 



Learning bosses and retrying them is actually brilliant unlike Metaphor which felt like they wanted you to fail, you are failing on skill here and retrying feels like Soulsborne as there is no frustration, it's just another try. It's such a refreshing take on a stale genre.



Oh, I forgot the game is on gamepass. So they got MS money too. If 500k are sold...maybe they worded that sneakily... then they should have more than 16 million banked. Anyone know how much a game gets for gamepass exclusivity day one?



I get it, Legit. You never figured out the easiest-to-understand turn-based systems, lol. Nothing tops TMS for amazing turn-based systems. Encore's system is unrivaled.

Anyway, I may play this sometime down the line when on PS Plus or something. Combat looks very familiar, which is not a bad thing, but not new either.

Fine with me I always enjoy variations of this formula.

Yeah a lot of people saying it's got Legand of Dragoon in it, I never played that one. But to say it's like Like A Dragon is an insult, this game is so far ahead of LoD TBS game, light years ahead and from what I played of Lost Oddessy, not kuch tbf, it's the same.

It's better than Metaphor and harder too but not in that annoying way where it expects you to put in a load of time and to die for the sake of it to try again and guess the weaknesses, I like Metaphor I think it's an 8 despite its flaws, a great game but if it's an indication of SMT then that series can't be great. This game however is like Soulsborne where fighting bosses and failing to try again is addicting in itself, I want to fail here, I want the bosses to be hard.  

The systems here are fucking phenomenal, the itemization and skills are so far ahead of the competition. Below is about 5 or 6 hours back and a lot has been unlocked and new rotations found since but it shows how good the battles are, I think, a lot of the fun was in learning the timing. I know you love Stellar Blade and no shit, this is Stellar Blade/Sekiro version of TBS games. I loved this boss so much, so perfectly designed. So very Souls like. Absolutely mind blowing. There have been bosses since that have left me scratching my head on how to beat them but I managed it, learned the patterns and overcame them and got the soulsborne level "fuck yeah". A TB game has never done thst for me ever, it's always been an obstacles to progress the game and at most addicting in a Stockholm syndrome kind of way as with Old school FF or something like I am Setsuna. This game is next level stuff, an evolution and a refinement of the old all in one so great for old schoolers and action game lovers both. 



Go play SMT Nocturne and SMTV-V. Esp Nocturne. I liked Metaphor but it was Persona not SMT. It wasn't even the best Persona like game released last year. But I said TMS is the best not SMT. That said SMT are some of the best games ever made. Go play Nocturne on the hardest difficulty and enjoy the first Menorah boss fight. I will be snickering in the corner.

In that sense, how classic Jrpg's started out wouldn't be a factor to someone who mainly associates them with turn based, and may not even be aware of action based titles like Dragon Slayer that predate Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Phantasy Star, etc, that popularized the genre and coined the phrase in the west.

Nintendo started as playing card company. But if anyone hears the name Nintendo today, that's probably the last thing they think of.

A Japanese developer can make a western style rpg, while a western developer can make a Japanese style one. But since ideas are more and more commonly borrowed between east and western style games, we often get games with elements from both. And Expedition 33 is no exception.

Expedition 33's producer said that the director "wanted to have the kind of feeling that he imagined would have remained in modern Final Fantasy-like games, if they had kept doing turn-based stuffBut he also mixed lots of different inspirations. Final Fantasy and JRPGs are definitely the preeminent gameplay heritage we have. The defense system is more inspired by Sekiro and From Software games."

People familiar with these kind of games understands what they're referring to when they mention Sekiro & FromSoft games separately from "Final Fantasy and Jrpgs".

Understanding what they mean while using those terms is what's interesting to me. Not really the semantics.



At 9.7 on 1k reviews is this the highest rated Metacritic user score of all time? Cause I'm having trouble finding higher...

People just choosing to be ignorant and wrong is what it is. Do you call BG3 a JRPG as well? Can I just call Xenoblade a WRPG? It has a mot of elements of those in them.
