The best I can do in that department is use AI slop as reference so I can draw less shitty versions of it.

To be fair, a few years from now we'll be looking for flaws in art to prove it's human-made, not the other way around.

But there will probably always be a thriving niche market for human art, like there was for artisanal furniture and clothing after the industrial revolution.

You just painted a bleak vision of the future. -_-

The only reason I had issues with Clair Obscur's use of AI was that at one point they lied about not using it at all. If the developer had stated from the beginning that they had used some placeholder art and experimented with AI early on in development but later replaced all AI assets I wouldn't have cared one bit, as I'm more than willing to forgive mistakes made as long as they are acknowledged as such, and Sandfall has quite clearly done that.

And to make this as clear as possible, I don't like the use of generative AI in video game development, and I'm immediately less likely to buy a game that uses it, especially in a creative/artistic capacity. AI created assets are not art, plain and simple. The only people who consider it actual art are themselves creatively bankrupt as far as I'm concerned.

Clair used AI and was the best game in 2025 and had a fraction of the budget Rebirth had...

^Not a fan of generative AI being used in place of e.g. artists, but AI is a tool that will substantially cut down on dev time and, thereby, risk & cost. Great for lowering the bar to entry for indie devs; great for AAA studios looking to be creative (and not play it entirely by-the-numbers/safe) in their projects.

Exactly, AI allowed Expedition 33 to put square on notice.  No way that studio could have spent $130,000,000 like square did with Rebirth.  Yet it is better than Rebirth.  AI will give small players more ability in the market place.

Yes. It's a tool. Invented by tools and used by even bigger tools, like whoever's the dickhead CEO of Coke, and Satya "I don't care what happens to other people" Nadella.

As I mentioned earlier one of the reasons I lost my job was because of generative AI. My employer, in addition to personal issues he's had that interfered with our project being released, even wanted to use AI when the project was way behind schedule. Naturally I wasn't having any of that fucking shit.

Now I've got people here saying "Go back to school and learn a new skill, idiot!!", when I spent at least five fucking years in college, none of which were easy because of anxiety and poor self-esteem, which got way worse when I was a child because of a teaching assistant who made me feel like shit (I hope someone killed her wherever she ended up afterwards.). So no, it's not that simple for me to just "Go back to school!!", and with my anxiety (Bet some of you are from THAT group that thinks anxiety is just an excuse) a job in somewhere as fast paced as McDonald's is even less ideal.

Art and animation, like I said, were the two things I'm good at that would've led to a more lucrative career, and now I have keyboard warriors and small minded CEOs taking that away from me. Making it even worse are people here who are basically telling me "Get another job, you pussy." or "Work WITH the soulless AI instead of against it.". I refuse to admit defeat and bend over for Sora and ChatGTP like you want me to. I'm not at all sorry for the long rant either.

So you told your boss no? Yeah, doesn't work in the real word. I use AI predictive modeling, not a huge fan, but having a pay check matters.

Work means doing things we dont want to do, hence why it isnt called fun.

Bet you're paid jack shit because AI is doing your job for you. Your boss is ready to throw you out just to replace you with AI and save a few dollars.

Nope and nope.

Someone has to interpret results and make recommendations.  It is a tool, like any other tool.  Not too mention you can't just slam AI with data, it has to be the right data.

Oh yeah, like artwork it steals from human artists and animation it steals from human animators.
