Well it was a slight joke but I'm probably right, when people buy something and there is another product everyone says is better they don't feel validate in their purchase and then get mad at the better product. Most people don't have the money to be spending 105 euro on two games in a week.

You've made a number of bitter looking posts towards Oblivion and trying to pit Expedition 33 and Oblivion against each other, it is just a bit exhausting, it is possible to simply celebrate more than one game at once u'know, Lol.

Like I said it was 148 negative reviews, that isn't a review bomb. A lot of the complaints are about the gameplay, a complaint that is common, I've browsed the ResetEra thread on Expedition 33 and the #1 complaint is about the parry system, so it's not exactly a shock that a few people will hate it.

Of 71 negative written reviews on Metacritic, only 3 have reviewed both Oblivion Remastered and Expedition 33, 1 of those also gave Oblivion Remastered a negative score, the other two admittedly did give Oblivion Remastered a 10/10 and Expedition a 3/10 and the other gave Oblivion Remastered a 9/10 and Expedition a 0/10 so 2/71 thus a 2.8% ratio to "back" your claim up, Lol.

But one of those is a woke loser who has been downvoting a bunch of games for being woke and I have seen a well known Twitter loser accusing Expedition 33 of being woke so it's more likely that guy gave Expedition a 3/10 over some woke bullshit than being a bitter Oblivion fan and the other hated the parrying system.

There is little to no evidence of what you're claiming.

Oblivion fans don't need to feel validated about anything, Oblivion is one of Bethesda's most highly rated Elder Scroll's titles, even the original release sold millions, now they've got an updated remaster of one of their fondest memories and the Remaster is selling brilliantly as well. There is nothing to be bitter about or needing their purchase validated, they'll enjoy Oblivion Remastered and then go play Expedition 33 when they're done with it (and Game Pass users will get both for free, Lol). Finally not everyone agrees that Expedition 33 is better than Oblivion but they may agree it's better than Oblivion Remastered, after all, it is a remaster of a game from 2006, Lol.

Actually it's Final Fantasy 16 I am pitting E33 against, you are mistaken. The only thing I'm pissed at Oblivion for is the colour, why would I trash on a game I own but technically they are competing, not everyone can buy both and they are also competing for timeshare for players who have both on Gamepass or bought both or potential sales to each other. We are on a gaming website revolving around game sales, the whole idea of this site is games and systems in competition. This is frankly just weird that even if I were to put them against each other it would be wrong on these forums, on a sales data site.

I'm an Oblivion fan and a BGS fan for everything before Fallout 4 and the TV show after it. Whatever you have taken from me in regards to the game outside of the colour downgrade is in your head. I'm cool with both games but facts are facts...

Reviews for Oblivion landed at an 82 on Metacritic where the original had a 94. There is no comp, the user reviews only have 170 but it's sitting at 7.3. All decent but no competition to CO E33. Steam charts has Oblivion at number 24 most played right now which is a much longer game so people fell off and CO E33 is holding it's own at number 11.

If you can't discuss data like that, what would be the point of this site...

Its a turn based RPG just like the Ubisoft South Park RPGs and Costume Quest game are turn based RPGs.

Nah, man. Play it. It's is extremely JRPG if you are using JRPG as a sub genre and not country of origin. The level design, the menu system, the spells, even the OST and structure of the game is a JRPG. It has more in common with JRPGs than with the rest of them. Even item placement, itemization and the systems beneath building are more JRPG with kinda SRPG depth like Unicorn Overlord, it doesn't need to be anime and have a Japanese dub to be a JRPG which is all it is lacking.

If it walks like a duck, swims like a duck, quacks like a duck... ... It's a duck :P

Honestly I don't see the harm calling it a JRPG.
It feels like one, that's honestly all that matters.
If a chinese dev makes a rpg that plays like a wrpg, calling it a wrpg isn't a issue for me either (even if its not made in the west).

The funny thing is The Elder Scrolls fans shit talk each other constantly. There's a bigger rivalry between fans of Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim than there is Oblivion vs Expedition 33 which feels like an entirely made up thing, I browse a lot of Elder Scrolls communities and I've not seen any bitterness towards Expedition 33 but I have seen Oblivion fans ripping into Skyrim fans and Morrrowind fans ripping into both, Lmao.

Meanwhile Daggerfall fans:

Oh yeah, Lmfao. Forgot about Daggerfall fans but I've seen some comments.

They even each have derisive nicknames, Lol.

  • Skybabies
  • Oblivitards
  • Morrowboomers
  • Daggerfucks

The TrueSTL Subreddit often mocks each one, Lol.

You'll also often see each games individual Subreddit throwing digs at each other, Lol.

It's hilarious, a lot of it is in good fun, but many do take it a bit far sometimes, Lmao. But like I was saying, there's more of a rivalry between Elder Scrolls fans themselves than there is a rivalry between Oblivion and Expedition 33. I've seen more Elder Scrolls fans (like myself) expressing support for Expedition 33 and cheering it on.

Not to derail the thread further but anyone saying Morrowind is better than Oblivion or Skyrim are in it for the sense of scope and wonder and not the actual games themselves. Morrowwind wouldn't work being just Remastered where Oblivion can to some degree cause it's not so archaic as Morrowind would need to be rebuilt from the ground up and while Skyrim took much out that makes these games they also made the game better in a lot of ways, Dungeons for example are a loop and so much better , the leveling scaling isn't broken but on the flip side Oblivion has the better quests and world. Morrowwind has lots and lots of walking and walking and walking hoping you'll run into something interesting and even at the time of Oblivions release it was archaic and felt like a game far more old than it was, Oblivions impact was like Metal Gear 2 to Metal Gear Solid for what it improved.

You keep proving my point, Lol.

Like I said, you've made a number of bitter comments towards Oblivion and tried to pit Oblivion and Expedition 33 against each other because you're upset at Oblivion and you were also upset that they had the nerve to release near Expedition 33. The comment that "Oh Expedition 33 is getting negative reviews, must be spiteful Oblivion fans!!!" is even more evidence, Lol.

Oblivion is a remaster of a 2006 game, no shit it didn't score as well in 2025 with critics, Lol. But Oblivion fans are good, it sits at 82% on Steam, a 4.3/5 on the Xbox Store and 4.7/5 on the PlayStation Store and is the 3rd highest selling game of 2025 so far. And for actual information, Oblivion at #24 is still 56k players, Expedition 33 at 11 is 96k players, not a major difference.

Go enjoy Expedition 33 as Oblivion fans are enjoying Oblivion. Ironically, I've not seen any Oblivion fans express bitterness towards Expedition 33 but I see you doing it towards Oblivion. Both games are doing incredibly well and have been very well received, no need to keep throwing digs at the other in some weird defensive move.

There's is no point in talking to ya cause you have to be right but you're wrong. This goes on inside your own head, not mine but if you were right and you aren't. Again, it's a site based on competition where you say competing games against each other is silly which is so silly in itself. I'm not getting into arguing over the stats cause you are right about own thing, it's silly comparing them, however there actually is a massive difference in those numbers considering one in a new IP in a much more niche genre where games sell a minute amount compared to BGS games. It is mind-boggling that E33 is not only holding it's own but winning against a game that has 20 years of hype and discussion whether it's better than Skyrim or not.

If Witcher 3 was made by a Japanese studio I'd have trouble calling it a JRPG, Lol.

I see JRPG and WRPG more as a style more than where a game released, even then there's a lot of WRPGs and JRPGs that are completely different from each other, maybe we should do away with region labels and just say RPG, Lol.

So yeah, Expedition 33 looks very "JRPG" to me but maybe we're just too focused on labels, Lol. Whatever it is, it's a great game.

Bollocks mate - Morrowind was the last RPG Bethesda made with (mostly) core RPG audience in mind, and even Morrowind was quite a bit dumbed down compared to Daggerfall.  ;)

We need an Elder Scrolls thread, Lol.
