I won't argue with your personal sentiments, that's fine. But your statement about it being a basic port is just wrong. It's probably the best use of the hardware we've seen so far. It's the only game they've showcased which offers modes of full 4k/60 and 120fps performance at full HD. It's very impressive and deserves to be acknowledged.

Also if your tv supported 120hz you would probably know. It's not the most common tv feature.

The actual assets don't seem to have changed much, so to my mind a res and fps bump still constitutes a fairly straight port. Of course, I acknowledge that supporting 120fps and 4K is commendable though, and the addition of mouse-con aiming is great to see.

At any rate, the game itself looks really good so far, to me at least. It's very much "more Prime" but after an 18 year absence that's fine by me.

Completely a fair sentiment !

Since I'll have the Switch 2 by its release, I'll likely play it on Switch 2 anyway because of the better experience ... But It could be tempting to buy the Switch 1 version, play the intro sections of it, then get the upgrade pack for it and play the Switch 2 Edition just for kicks and how the visuals and gameplay can feel different with the better specs.

I took a look at the GVG comparison of the Switch 1 trailer footage and the gameplay feed on the Switch 2 version and this is quite more than a simple up res and fps boost. Textures, shadows, particle effects are all up significantly.

Btb so we know if the undocked mode does have a performance 1080p 120fps mode ?

I wanna try it to understand more of the buzz around people going gaga over 120fps in their games.

Undocked has a 720p/120fps performance mode. That will look great on a handheld.

Here's a pretty good comparison of the 2 versions.

Ah, there does seem to be some additional asset detail that I honestly didn't notice as it's been a while since I watched the June 2023 trailer.

Nice that they're taking advantage of the hardware.

All that extra time in the kitchen for this game was so worth it. Retro have set a high bar for Switch 2 Editions moving forward.

This looks just incredible, the gameplay is soooo fluid and the visuals are just gorgeous (at least in the Switch 2 version). Not sure if I'm gonna play it on Switch 1 or wait until I get the Switch 2 (most probably until next year).

Definitely there is different lighting in the Switch 2 version that isn't present on the Switch 1 version, it's not just a resolution bump. Interesting.

That first boss looks fun. Also I kinda wish that Samus had a giant mecha suit like we saw the Federation using.

Going with the theme of the game, the mech would also possess psychic abilities 🧠
