This was weak. No price announcements for either the console itself or its games, and this thing is launching in two months.
Also giving off Wii U vibes with its focus on (mostly old) third party games, as if Nintendo has learned nothing. At least this time around the hardware is solid instead of a predictable bust, but it's still frustrating to see them take this direction, as if nobody would buy third party games if Nintendo showed their own games. This kind of attitude makes me want to skip third party games. So... what I'll buy for sure is Mario Kart World, Metroid Prime 4 Beyond, Donkey Kong Bananza and Hyrule Warriors. I'll consider Elden Ring and that's basically it when it comes to third party games.
Since the battery of my original Switch is dead since two months ago, I need to replace it. Now that it is confirmed that Switch 2 launches in a mere two months, there's no point in pondering another Switch 1 purchase, so that's that. Nintendo announced two SKUs for launch with the barebones one being the easy choice; I will definitely not sully a new Mario Kart by purchasing it digitally.
Oh yeah, we don't know how much upgrade packs cost either. But hardly any of these shortcomings in the Direct are going to matter, because people want the Switch 2. So while this presentation isn't far off from Wii U's E3 2013, here it's just the presentation that is off and not the product itself. Huge difference.
Now it's just a matter of waiting until pricing details trickle out and preorders are opened.
