I think the existence of Donkey Kong decreases the chances of 3D Mario before next year. This trailer of DK felt very "Odyssey" for me, so my theory is they now there is a demand for 3D platformers and has been a while since a DK game was released, so they reused the gameplay mechanics and game design from Odyssey here while they are cooking another 3D Mario for maybe 2026 or 2027 with different game design/direction

i hope you are not right lol, though that would only make sense. Two mega 3D platformers within 3m of each is a bit unrealistic. Curious what they’re planning for the holiday?
