Just curious how it will run on switch 2.

Played for about 100 hours and got the platinum. I enjoyed the game very much, even the fighting system. It feels fluid, but admittedly too easy, even on the harder second playthrough. You pretty much have godmode enabled from the beginning if you are mildly competent in playing video games. I liked the story and the characters though and it's not like Final Fantasy games were ever especially hard to begin with. So I got more than I expected.
It's not the greatest game in the world, but I'd say it is better than its reputation.

It will be a challenging port for sure, but if devs got stuff like Witcher 3, Doom Eternal, and Kingdom Come Deliverance to run in decent shape on Switch 1, FF16 on Switch 2 should be doable.

I mean, it's an incredibly unoptimized game/engine that's running at 792p 30 fps on the Series S (a console that had a 1080-1440p 30 fps mode for Cyberpunk 2077, mind). Make of that what you will.

Honestly, it depends on the effort they put into it. I doubt they'll go the Dragon Quest 11 route. That's the best way to handle ports to less powerful hardware but it's also the most expensive. FFXVI is a nice looking game but not nice enough to explain it's performance. The game seems to have optimization issues. If they want it to run well and look decent on Switch 2 they are going to need to take optimization seriously.

Oh I'm well aware; but for example Kingdom Come Deliverance didn't run very well on PS4/XBO yet a Switch port turned out to be feasible. Unoptimized means room for optimization.

Pretty much, yeah. It's doable, it just depends on whether Square want to invest the necessary resources.
