Dolphin, well it's a code name but would have been cool if the GameCube was called it.

Yeah there were some pretty cool code names too; "Revolution" for the Wii, "Ultra 64/Project Reality" for the N64, "Atlantis" for the shelved 1990s Gameboy successor, "Nitro" for the DS, etc.

It's a weirder name than GameCube, but I still dig it.

Revolution is perhaps the biggest missed opportunity in cool codenames that could've been the name of the system.

Shoot, I'd take Xbox Scarlett as a name over Xbox Series X/S.

They probably wanted to but considering 720 sounds like 720p and TVs at the time were 1080p, sounded like a bad marketing idea so they went with the All on ONE name instead.

I think Sega was the masters of cool console naming.

But PlayStation takes the win for me with Dreamcast as a second. The name is so common and might be overseen since it have been around and active for 30 years. But it is pretty much the perfect name for a gaming console. It might be because of Sony's well executed campaigning that I pretty much associate PlayStation with cool.

If we remove the cool criteria I like GameCube and Switch more.
