Forums - Nintendo Discussion - As Switch 2 looms, will Switch 1 continue to get "impossible ports"?

No. Third parties were never committed to Switch the way they were committed to PS4, so i think Switch will basically only get games on the level of Suikoden remasters and indie games pretty soon. Third parties were reluctant to support the Switch even when it was in its prime.

The only company you can really make that argument for is EA. Otherwise, most third parties were pretty good at supporting the Switch with whatever they were able to get running on it. Even if they had to release some games as cloud versions, lol.

Seriously, did anybody think that games like Doom, Witcher III, Mortal Kombat 11 and 1, and Borderlands 3 would even come to the Switch at all?

This. It's funny how EA has been largely absent from Nintendo platforms since 2013 and yet Bethesda, Rockstar, and 2K put games on Switch.

Activision has refused to put COD on Switch, but other IPs like Spyro and Crash are supported.

When even Activision offered better support to the Switch than EA, it really does put into perspective how much of an outlier EA was in relation to other companies' support of the Switch. It was pretty obvious EA didn't want to put anything on Switch unless something forced them to.

The crazy thing is that EA's vice president at the time was given the biggest space of all third parties during the Switch presentation in 2017, but they turned out to be the company that would be the worst supporter of Switch.

As long as Nintendo fans are willing to show that they dont in fact hate generic HD trash and dudebro Western games, they will be made.

Turns out it will; High on Life was just announced, a game that has performance challenges even on PS4/Xbox One.

I’m not sure whether this is a knock or a compliment…
