Writing. Or at least that what i tell myself. It is very time consuming. If taking care of a house can be considered a hobby, I guess that will take the top spot.

I like body fitness and cycling as my alternatives.
Traveling is always fun to do every season or so.
I watch anime, at least the ones that I been keeping up with since the 2000s/2010s.
I still study Japanese, little by little.
Cooking is always fun. I am always making up new recipes and hunting down ingredients. I have to force myself to go to restaurants, because I enjoy restaurants too, but it is often easier to just cook.
LegitHyperbole said: Nice. Fitness is a hobby that pays for itself with the chemicals in the brain. You're in Canada, right? How do you find the lack of sun over the winter on your mood and appetite, like it takes soooo much food to upkeep when lifting. The ammount of food I was buying when I used to lift and the ammount of time I spent preparing the food dwarfs the three actual hours spent actually lifting but the main reason is the lack of sun here during the winter, progressive depression that gets deeper until spring and the mood just isn't there by the time October or November sets in to get motivated for even cardio. I know the exercise would lift the mood but since it doesn't lift the appetite it's counter productive to the health with keeping on weight. How do you deal with the lack of sun? Is it as bad as here in Ireland? We are barely getting summers anymore, might get enough sun to lift the mood if we are lucky but it's becoming rarer and rarer. Also, these are great hobbies and very productive. Reading is one I plan on getting back into to help put the mind in order as well as writing, I started using audible and that was a big mistake, I can't even remember half the books I listened to and confuse them for the same books, they all blend together. |
It's terrible. I've always suffered from the winter blues and have to stave off depression during winter. February is the worst as then it's often consistently grey and cold after already 2 miserable months. It already starts in October as the days get shorter and the clouds come in.
I keep up working out outdoors for as long as possible. +4c is enough as long as the sun shines. But the lack of sun is the killer.
Hence I try to stick to going for a run every other day, alternating with weight lifting the other days. Not easy when there's snow everywhere and it's -9c during the day. The mood lifting effect is still there at least, but getting the motivation to go is hard. And hurting my back while shoveling the driveway doesn't help at all.
As for appetite, I use Canabis for sleep, which also helps for appetite. So I often end up having 'breakfast' at midnight while not eating much during the day.
My Main hobby is Weightlifting, the sport, not just lifting weights.
There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'
My main hobbies are music and sport. I play guitar in a band which do gigs every other week so that keeps me busy! I also play football (Soccer to you yanks!) once a week as well so gaming is probably 3rd on my hobby list.
Not a hobby but I also spend a lot of time with my 2 sons so unfortunately my gaming time is very limited these days not that I'm complaining :)
Prior to the pandemic I used to play a lot more music out in bars and house concerts. Many of the performers I used to play along with have left my area or stopped playing as much. The local scene has been replaced by nothing but cover bands and artists and going to see local music isn’t nearly as fun as it used to be. I still enjoy writing and playing, though I don’t do it nearly as much.
I don’t know if you’d call it a hobby, but I used to be really passionate about picking up litter and I started having events. Since ‘21 when I lost my regular job because of COVID (they closed my store) it’s not my main job, so I guess it’s not as much a hobby as a career now.
I also enjoy movies (Fincher, Nolan, Wes Anderson to name a few) and TV shows (Breaking Bad, Ozark, Succession).
But gaming, especially during the Switch era, has absolutely become my main hobby. I used to think I’d grow out of it or make it less of a priority, but no matter how busy my life got I still managed to find time to game 3-4 hours a day.
Running and races as an excuse to travel. A marathon in New York, a Ragnar in Boston, a half marathon in China etc.
Next to my job, I'm a volunteer in a Historic Museum in my home town. Love doing tours with guests visiting and sharing stories. Learn a lot from those guests too!
