Honestly, I don’t think there is a clear standout after the Galaxy games. The Wii software is pretty horrendous in retrospect given absolutely none of the Nintendo IP games shined on that system except 3D Mario. And then we get to the dire state of 3rd party overall for it. And then horrifically dated and dumb waggle controls plaguing so many games on top of it all. So unless you really love the casual Wii series games, which tbh Wii Sports Resort might not be a bad pick. I guess there’s also Twilight Princess, but it’s really a GCN game and it’s never been one of my Zelda favs either, even if slightly over Skyward.

Just realized I never actually answered this.

If I had to narrow it down to just one game, I'd say Xenoblade Chronicles. From its unforgettable world to its epic story to its sublime soundtrack to its deep RPG gameplay, it's just a fantastic experience through and through, and one of the most memorable of that whole generation, for me anyway.

Honourable mentions go to Monster Hunter Tri, Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Skyward Sword, Sin & Punishment Star Successor, and Fatal Frame 2/4.

When I just bought the WII I bought 3 games with it. Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess (didn't like it that much) and Resident Evil 4. Resident Evil 4, I couldn't cope with the controller so I didn't touch the game game for 6 months. After getting used to the controller and finishing the other 2 games. I loved the game. It's not an orignal Wii game, but after Galaxy I would definitely say Resident Evil 4.

Skyward Sword is my pick for best game on the console and the generation as a whole, and that includes the Galaxy games. I don't think I'll ever have an experience like the period from the start of the Ancient Cistern through the desert lake and the private ship dungeon ever again. Truly the best 6 hours of my gaming life.
