Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Switch 2 officially announced, switch 2 direct 2nd of April

Unless they are dropping the Switch 1 price you'd have to be an idiot to buy one now. For a bit more you can get a Switch 2.

Also probably a few people who got a Switch 1 for Christmas who are a bit sour this morning, lol, this was very cynical how they basically held this away from people making holiday shopping decisions and then just shadow dropped a successor like two weeks into the new year, lol.

While I do feel bad for those that were late to the Switch party , part of me hopes this isn't just business.  I kind of want to see them take down the PS2 with the Switch.  I guess we will get an idea if they start dropping prices on the original Switch line to make it a better value proposition and don't just discontinue manufacturing.

Come on Nintendo be guided by pride just a little on this one and go for the record!

Yes I do miss the console wars a little bit.  It seemed more exciting back then.

Yeah looking at the comparison now, the difference is very noticable.
I was going to add "without zooming in" but even from a distance it's very distinct.

Nintendo was never going to start spending $150+ million willy nilly on game projects, so the new Mario Kart pouring more into more characters per race, probably 4K DLSS type resolution makes sense.

Someone noted that the karts look like they transform (jet ski?) so expect some nice water effects if that's that case.

I mean I was kinda on to something

If that's the case, welcome back Wave Race

Transforming karts does seem like a natural evolution to the series.

3 million views so far on the video and 467K likes.

Also all the stuff about "You need to have like 6-9 months before launch to release!!!!" stuff looks stupid now.

This is just a bigger Switch with a far better chipset (presumably) ... there's nothing here that needs months and months of marketing time, this can easily launch in May or shit even April with no problem in terms of marketing cycle.

Yeah I do feel a little bad for those people. Only a little though since just a bit of research would've shown them that the Switch 2 was close.

Why does the video show Mario Kart 8 "Wii" - Mario Kart Wii is Mario Kart 6 lol.

But man what a way Mario Kart's come. Being a 2.5Dish racer to what it is now. Well played.

Nintendo seems to be looking a lot at Sony, lol, the Switch 2 reveal looks like it was made by the same people who did the PS5 reveal trailer. At least we got a tiny bit of game footage.
