At this rate, Switch will cross 35 million in about 4-5 weeks - Right around the start of the year.

Honestly, 40 million isn't out of the question.

Mind bowling considering the previous record hold by the DS was already seen as unattainable by most after the results of the previous generation.

The Switch however isn't just beating it atm, it's shattering it !

Yeah with Switch gonna pass 35 million in January, it'll definitely pass 37 million by the time it's all done, will be really interesting to see if it can keep selling in Japan while it dies off in the rest of the world, since the appetite for it seems insatiable in Japan, and see if it can even hit 38m lifetime. It'll probably already be nearly at 36m when successor launches. I expect Japan will be the one place where Switch is still putting up some halfway decent numbers once next gen starts.

No. they don't.

Many japanese games (apart from Nintendo ones) are never launched outside Japan.

Japanese companies develop for Japanese taste and market 90% of the time. More specially the 2nd and 3rd row companies.
Switch is starting to become the only platform they really use. Even the bigger ones, like Konami, Square Enix, Sega, Bandai Namco or Capcom only publish very limited number of games outside Japan every year, and when they do that, those also appear in PC... or they just make exclusive smartphone games. No exclusives for PS5.

Yes, they publish in Xbox some games, cause One and Series are basically a PC, like PS4 and PS5 are. Just cause that. Very easy and cheap to adapt.
But PS5 games in the japanese weekly top 30, in the fifth year of PS5, are basically residual.

I don't even know if you're joking or not but those devs you mentioned, they release all their games worldwide. Most of the best selling games like tekken, street fighter , resident evil, monster hunter, sonic, Persona, Elden Ring released on xbox not on switch. None of the japanese devs besides Nintendo will ever ignore playstation or even xbox because Japan isn't the only country that sell games. It's not even the largest gaming market

I don't know in what reality are you leaving... but I saw A LOT of those game series (Persona? are YOU joking?) in Switch, and in many cases selling better than in PS4 and PS5, and of course Xbox. And they probably will continue to sell better in Switch 2. Expect a Metaphor port for it, for example.

I missed it actually happening, but Switch is now more than double PS5 YTD.

This week, Switch Lite alone > all PS5 hardware.

I'm talking about most of these not releasing on switch. The recent persona game reload hasn't released on switch but its on xbox. Also next month the new monster hunter is releasing on xbox but not on switch.  And no persona games on switch sold more than on PS4 or PS5. These are japanese games not releasing on switch but are on  xbox series, the worst selling console this gen. Why do you think they are avoiding switch but not xbox?
