Forums - Gaming Discussion - PSA: FF7 Rebirth is WAY better than FF7: Remake (which now has an update)

I...

love Remake & Rebirth 14 73.68%

only love Rebirth 2 10.53%

only love Remake 1 5.26%

dislike both Remake and Rebirth 0 0%

haven't payed either but ... 0 0%

haven't played either but... 0 0%

haven't played either but... 0 0%

I don't intend to play either. 2 10.53%

Total:19

I havent updated but the features that come with the update wont be used cause its just a booster. Good for repeated playthroughs.

As for which one is better, cant say  - only played 8 hours of Remake on PC and I havent played Rebirth on my PS5 yet.

Honestly despite it's flaws, I enjoyed Remake more than Rebirth. They both had padding issues but they really bugged me by the time I hit Chapter 12 of Rebirth. I finished Remake twice (did a second run on hard), I have no desire to even go back finish up the side quests in Rebirth.

Exactly my mindset.

I will eventually go back to finish Rebirth(Plat) around time part 3 has an official release. Hopefully by then they add more QoL things to the game that make it more desirable to go back too. Just thinking about all the stuff I have to go back to just makes me wish that Part 3 has an FF15 development cycle.

I definitely preferred Remake. While Rebirth is still a good game, I had too many issues with it and promptly sold it. (Physical copies ftw)

Damn. I was not expecting this response. Cool.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth? Honestly, they’re probably the greatest things to happen to gaming since the save point. And of course, I’ll be double dipping on the Steam version of Rebirth because who needs self control, right?

Lol. Exactly. Hell, buy it three times, just so you know it's as good as it is!

i tried playing Remake, but got overwhelmed by how long the game is. Loved the first 20hr, but it became too much after that. This isn’t Zelda BotW/TotK which has an incredibly addictive gameplay loop intended for hundreds of hours of gameplay. This is a game that plays like a game you’d spend ~20hr in…but was bloated (🤰) to the point of >50hr.

If you only have 10hr to play video games every week, it’s not all too compelling hearing that your next >40hr will be devoted to a decently fun game. You’d rather play a game that is extremely fun, like Banjo Kazooie (which is only a few button presses away).

No option in the vote for me.

Love FF7, probs my fav game ever nxt to Crash 2, FF7Remake? Just bloated spinoff (3.5 hours of story extended to 40 hours of mostly nothing) with a new story. Good gameplay, decent 'exploration', bad everything else. Didn't purchase it as got it free on PS+ and won't purchase Rebirth any time soon.

Irony is, if this was a new Final Fantasy with this gameplay, might have really liked it, even thought "I'm okay with this as the 'turn based' going foward." But because it was in the guise of FF7, I don't. I want ATB back and want them to stop wasting time on this and give me FF17 with it.

Hmm, pie.

You were close, I done the entire main story, all side content and some grinding in less than 31 hours but yes, even then it dies drag anf is extended for length in big things and stuff as small as crouching under rubble or climbing a ladder every 10 seconds.

I'm a completionist and was really annoyed by all the mini-games/etc in Rebirth. I did all the work for the protocrelic and then at the end you have to tackle some very difficult bosses I didn't stand a chance against and would've probably really had to grind for awhile on. And many of the mini-games just weren't fun for me. If I was able to just play the main story and not all the stuff on the side I didn't like I would've liked it a lot more. Still looking forward to the last one, though.

I'm a completionist too and after hearing about the mini games and grind I just decided that I'm not willing to put in the time into Rebirth. Which, by extension, means I'm not willing to put in anytime into Remake (which I have from PS+) nor the 3rd (presumably final) game.
