^ This is it. Not secualized or anything, just done properly with respect to the characters, their fitness and the fit they're in. Very cool to see. The women look feminine and the men look masculine and they look like heroes.

But it's also a game where you yourself take issue with the gameplay. Maybe they spent a bit too much time  on these designs you like so much rather than the game.

The gameplay great, people are loving it and I was having fun. What I take issue with is the speed and pace of the game, they choose to slow it down for some reason and the complaints I have are very minor little tweaks like the character move speed, TTK and what not. All design choices but not mechanical failures. Looks like they spent a LOT of time on these 33 characters which is a wild number and getting them half way balanced before release. I'm sure they'll tweak the game as players demand.

Err.. I really do not think that the attractiveness of a character and the time designing them correlates at all.

Designer: "Sir, should I make this female character look feminine and attractive to appease to the largest group of gamers possible?"

Exec: "Nah.. that will take too long. Just make her look like a man, that´ll do it. We need to focus on gameplay!"

This is just insecurity, right?

Nah, I think it is just a matter of preference. For example, I'm bisexual and I like my women to look feminine and my men to look masculine; I mean, there have been exceptions in both cases, but that is how I mostly prefer things.

I agree, but I operate in the space where people often say a game was made worse because of political design choices. That they focus too much on these things rather than making the game good. And so I'm just applying that same logic here. If you can focus too much on political correctness to the detriment of your game design, you can probably also focus too much on character aesthetics.

This isn't a good point. Sure I'm gay and I like my men to look masculine. But having a type doesn't mean that I think all characters should be made to look that way. If I need fictional characters in a videogame to look attractive to my tastes specifically, yeah, that's super insecure.

I really don't know much about LegitHyperbole, but I'm willing to bet that he was complaining mostly about women looking like men here; which, let's be honest, is a trend that western developers have gone way overboard with.

Yikes.
