If DS2 doesn't show significant improvment, nothing ever will. Device is half a scam.

Switch OLED and PS4 showed significant noticeable improvements for a large nber of games, not ones you had to sit 5 feet from the TV to start getting noticeable improvements from asides from a small handful of games.

When AC shadows released you could clearly see the difference in quality in the 60fps modes. one had ray traced lighting and one didn't. It was a night and day difference. Far bigger than anything on PS4 Pro and Xbone X

Not even close, go play Shadow of the colossus on a base PS4 and then on a PS4 PRO, now that's a difference and something the base PS4 could not even come close to doing. Sorry, you got scammed, trying to justify it won't make it any better, ya can stare at Alan Wakes reflection in the town windows for as long as you think it makes 900 euro worth it.

It's the replacement of the slim consoles. |
I agree somewhat, but those slims were usually half the price of the launch model and sometimes even less than that, not more. They were more efficient, more dependable and at a more consumer friendly price. These pro models are definitely not that lol

Ehh I clearly saw a difference between 30 and 60 fps from my couch!
And clearly a difference between quality mode and performance mode from the couch on base PS5.
Just not much difference between pro performance and pro quality mode.
With PS4 pro I saw less of a difference tbh, since the frame rate was still the same ;) But sure, ps5 pro is basically just running the 30fps quality mode at 60 fps. At least for first party games. In VR the difference is even smaller, some games look a little bit more clear.
(And I saw zero difference for Switch OLED since I only play on TV lol)
I don't know on which ps4 I played SotC, must have been pro since that came out first. I probably played at 60fps, don't remember.
Anyway that's what pro consoles are good for, play at 60 fps in base quality mode.

True, but that's also due to many other circumstances.
You can buy a pro or buy the base console at a higher price now than at release :(
Consoles go up in price during the generation now instead of down. /facepalm
PS5 slim is now CAD 650 here, I bought the PS5 at launch for CAD 630...
PS5 slim digital is now CAD 580, was CAD 500 at launch.

Horrendous. I hope that trend doesn't continue.

You do know that if the PS5 Pro had failed catastrophically it wouldn't have changed anything? There's no point trying to convince PS owners/fans their Pro version of their hardware is a scam because the failure of the Pro model would've been inconsequential. It's not like there's a close battle between Xbox and PlayStation anymore and the standard PS5 is still way more powerful than Switch 2 so what could you achieve by convincing others it's a scam? It just fails while the standard PS5 carries on dominating.

PS6 will likely be a scam too if they keep leaning this direction so perhaps swaying people from it and hopefully we get an all weather machine designed for games Simulation, particle effects and what not instead of pushing studios to the brink of collapse chasing fidelity.
