I...

Will not play 26 52.00%

I don't like Dragon age. 3 6.00%

Total:50

Probably the biggest eye roll I saw in terms of writing was a character sitting down at a table and getting upset because of how I assume is the matriarch doesn’t understand that they’re non-binary and a yelling proceeds at the table because the matriarch doesn’t get it.

I’m thinking, in an actual fantasy game, everything about what a character is and can be is already established, such as an BG3, to where conversations like this would never happen. Only in the real world do conversations like that happen and the developers thought it would be a good idea to bring that kind of conversation into a fantasy game. It’s definitely one of the more egregious beating the player over the head moments.

Still, it’s only been a couple of moments in the game that can be glossed over. Not that I have faith that the rest of the games writing will be any better because all the reviews so far point to the contrary.

No.... no one has a conversation like that, even on that topic. It is concretely alien, there was no lead in at all, no pleasantries or small talk or an attempt at finese and that makes the character Tosh look extremely abrasive and dumb and a right bitch. The mother just going " I will go now". Ugh, even though the Kunari are supposed to be blunt it just is the biggest load of cringe inducing nonsense. It's laughable but maddening at the same time, I laughed out loud at "so, I'm non binary" but not a fun time laugh, a laugh of overdosing on cringeiness. The timing and delivery, the writing and the direction given to the VA all make a right little dumpster fire.

Oh Damn, this is one man I truly trust with RPG reviews, he's always on point with my tastes. I'm hesitant again 😞  God it's such a hard game to get a true read on. Dammit

Lol, just enjoy all the games you have already and come back to this in a few months when the dust has settled.

It's all reaction and counter reaction right now, with an election in the background stoking up the MAGA and DEI supporters.

It seems to be an average action RPG leaning more towards hack and slash than the more tactical roots the series started with. The comparisons with God of War battle system is enough for me. I never finished Ragnarok, got bored with it. I doubt this will keep me entertained.

I'll continue Inquisition first over this anyway.

I've already begun to tune out the video reviews, because it's become obvious now that it's just another Left vs Right situation, and that's getting nobody nowhere.

I was more concerned about the writing, the DEI stuff, but the access journalism parts caught my attention. Now I'm just tuning it out now, because no one's going to tackle the latter situation, only the former, which is now going into an endless loop (ragebait).

It really does come off as average, despite user reviews, but we also know ME is getting a new game, so technically Bioware still has another shot left in the arm.

I was never going to get this anyway, but I can still go back to other RPG's like V Rising, Grim Dawn, Kingdoms of Amalur, ESO (still haven't even touched ESO's latest expansion and I owned it since earlier this summer), etc.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

May I suggest Divinity Original sin. Kingdom come deliverance, Wasteland 3, Pillars of Eternity Deadfire or Path Finder wrath of the Righteous.

I already own KCD, but I need to upgrade my rig to play that game, but I'm also not overly fond of it's style of combat (not too big on parry/commit to action systems).

I skipped on DoS, due to it's turn based combat. I'm more for real time action combat systems, and dislike real time with pause (which was why I never got into DA in the first place). It's also why I never really get into CRPG's either, like I want to, but I've yet to find a CRPG that isn't turn based or real time with pause.

I do like how ESO has added AI companions in recent years, since you can summon them, build positive/negative rapport with them and they all approach combat differently and give you different passive bonuses, so that's something for me. I know devs can make real time combat RPG's with parties, but barely any of them really stick around to try seeing one system through to refinement, hence why currently party based systems work better in turn based RPG's, because no one's trying hard enough in the real time combat RPG dept.

This game continues to be:

During combat 🙂
During dialogue 🙁

Honestly the latter might end up being the dominant mood if this keeps up, although I know the later game supposedly hits very high highs note as I mentioned before. At least it has the best soundtrack out of all the DA games, so there's that in the meantime.

Well there's The outer worlds and soon avowed and there's one slipping my mind. I know they aren't CRPG's but they're the closest thing to CRPG's with real time combat.

It peaked at 83k. Not quite the weekend high people were saying it would be.

Even the item descriptions are cringe AF.
