Probably the biggest eye roll I saw in terms of writing was a character sitting down at a table and getting upset because of how I assume is the matriarch doesn’t understand that they’re non-binary and a yelling proceeds at the table because the matriarch doesn’t get it.
I’m thinking, in an actual fantasy game, everything about what a character is and can be is already established, such as an BG3, to where conversations like this would never happen. Only in the real world do conversations like that happen and the developers thought it would be a good idea to bring that kind of conversation into a fantasy game. It’s definitely one of the more egregious beating the player over the head moments.
Still, it’s only been a couple of moments in the game that can be glossed over. Not that I have faith that the rest of the games writing will be any better because all the reviews so far point to the contrary.
