Forums - Sales Discussion - Famitsu Sales: Week 42, 2024 (Oct 14 - Oct 20)

Mario Party has got to be one of Nintendo's best series in terms of return on investment. The development time isn't long and the budget probably not high but each entry is selling extremely well now.

3th best week 42 in its 8th year. Crazy really for NSW.

Hitting the 3.0 million YTD looks ever more likely.

With ten weeks to go it needs to sell on average 66.4k to get to 3m so definitely doable but it'll probably fall short of that for at least most of the next 5 weeks. It'll likely come down to how much of a boost it gets in December since it barely got one at all last time.

Sony will have to do something in Japan, it is not possible that they are happy with these sales figures. The price of the ps5 is very high, if the production cost is high they will have to subsidize this amount. I'm predicting that the price of switch 2 will be $400 and it will sell less than switch 1

Hmm, they probably make more profit per console now then they did per 2x consoles sold at the prior price point. I think people are misunderstanding sonys priorities, especially as some notable amount of units sold in Japan before were not staying in Japan. That motivation for international markets buying Japanese stock has been cut almost entirely and now they're pushed to get it from their own domestic market and selling price.

They're making more on hardware now whilst the weak retail software sales is probably not going to be majorly impacted either way.

Wonder why Jamboree had such a better opening week than Superstars.

That's true Mario Party makes bank for Nintendo. The other two Switch games have sold 20 million and what like 13 million or something. This one likely gonna hit 10 million too, and yeah no doubt it probably doesn't take a big budget for these games and they can realease a 2-3 each gen. I've never been interested in the series but it's a super lucrative series for Ninty.

My guess is Switch just barely falls short of 3mil this year. I'm thinking 2.95m. Would love to see it pass 3m in the final week though one last time.

I'm so glad their investment in making better MP is getting rewarded so we don't go back to these cheap releases. This is a great step in the right direction.

Mario Party has definitely jumped up a tier in popularity on the Switch. Was B+ tier before, now definitely up there wit Smash, MK, 2D/3D Mario etc;

King Switch slaying in Japan as always !!

Nintendo deserves the best, I'm in love with the new Mario Party so much, thank you for letting me play as Toad and Spike!!

Looks like Mario Party is the big Nintendo title of the year for Japan. I'm expecting DQ3 to outdo it though. Definitely a good opening for Mario Party.

Excellent opening for Mario Party; it does seem to be one of the best games in the series, so it's nice to see their efforts paying off.

Switch maintaining a roughly 5:1 ratio over PS5, as well as being nearly flat YOY. While it will fall behind once the holidays arrive, it's hella impressive to see Switch outpacing both its 1st and 2nd years in its 8th so far.
