Forums - Gaming Discussion - Best main menu screens that change when progressing the game.

I seen someone make this topic on twitter a while back and I find it pretty cool when devs take the time to do this.

My favourite is Deteoit become Human in which an AI on screen starts to react to the choices you made in the story. And ***spoilers*** you can choose to set her free depending on what choices you make and there are other outcomes to. Really cool touch.

What's your favourite? The ambience change of Geralt mediating in The Witcher 3 for example of the flag slowly lowering in spec ops the line as another...

I dont remember it in the Witcher and have honestly never noticed it in games, but I love the idea of it. Didnt play Detroit. Cool feature.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions. As usual, Atlus is the very best at UI. As the game progresses and you gain new Party members, they are added to the flower field.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

It's a cool idea - wish more games would do stuff like this.

I dont recall this feature in many games tbh, its not something I personally care much for, but I appreciated it in Lies of Pi, seemed like a nice detail that background of the menu changed after certain events.

Sea of Star's title screen changes as well, depending on which point you are in the game, that was also nice.

Spec Ops: The Line. The shifts to the background, the American flag's tattered condition, and the Star-Spangled Banner music over time perfectly marries with the story's central point.

I don't recall it in Lie of P, I suppose it must have been subtle but I did play that game in big chunks.

Nice.

In The Last of Us Part 1, after you play through the whole thing, Ellies knife is stuck in the window sill. In part 2 I think there is a boat missing from the coast. But this is, as I said, just at the very end, not while you play through it.

It is definitely a cool and underused feature. If I ever made a game, I would want to change the starting screen up quite a bit, depending on where the player is at.

Yup, TLOU 2 was a cool touch and it is a really easy to implement TLC feature for games that adds a little bow on top for the player. As well as loading screens that aren't a black screen with a whirling icon.
