I just had a thought yesterday. Is this release schedule probable?

November 2026: Halo: CE Remake (25th Anniversary Edition),
November 2027: Halo Ultimate Master Chief Collection - Includes everything from the Master Chief Collection plus Halo 5, Halo Infinite and Anniversary Editions of Halo 3 and Halo 4
November 2028 or November 2029: Halo 7

I'm aware that is a lot of Halo, but Halo has also slowed down a lot in releases and it is possible for Halo Studios to work on multiple titles at once and have a steady stream of releases.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 161 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million)

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 40 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

From what I am hearing, Halo 3: Anniversary, made with Unreal Engine 5, seems to be the next Halo game. Maybe a 2025 or 2026 release.

There always is a reason why they chose to show Halo 3 in UE5

I played all halo games for the first time 2 years ago and I had a blast with it. They hold up very well.

My quick take on them, from a guy that never played halo before:

- Halo CE: dated mechanics but loved the plot and characters and the pace of it. I can understand how so many people loved it at that time.

- Halo 2: My least favourite of the originals but the redone graphics on the anniversary edition help a lot. Its like night and day.

- Halo 3: Loved it, the high stakes, action, story, my only problem with it is that some of the story happens ofscreen and I think the plot just moves too fast, sometimes youre just shooting stuff and you dont even know about it.

- Halo Reach: One of the best FPS I ever played. Loved every minute of it. Best soundtrack in the series.

- Halo 4: I dont get the hate, I really liked it, loved the new story introduced, the cliffhanger at the end. My only problem with it is that its a bit repetitive especially the long metal corridors. I also hated the final boss "fight". Loved all the rest.

- Halo 5: Pure shit

Have you played Halo 3: ODST? If not, looks like you may have some more Halo goodness in store for yourself. And the soundtrack for it is every bit as amazing as the original trilogy and Reach.

Can we plz have a multiplatform RTS/FPS Halo eventually?

Halo 5's name to fame was actually it's Multiplayer.
The issue there was because it so poorly received, it never had a great multiplayer population.
So if you were based on Oceania or other small region of the world, you would never be able to get a multiplayer match. Making it useless.

The improved movement mechanics were a plus as well... Being able to move quickly and over obstacles/up ledges was brilliant fun.

But visually it was an ugly game, it needed to be a 30fps game, the animations and models were all 10-30fps, so they stuck out like dogs balls in the way they presented on-screen... The game felt like it was held back by the hardware in significant ways... The enhanced Xbox One X update didn't make any improvements to those technical shortcomings as it's a game engine limitation.
The low draw distance of shadows and LoD's, animations and more just gave it a very unpolished look, I felt Halo 4 presented better ironically.

The game also released with minimal content... I.E. No Split Screen, No Forge, Minimal Multiplayer maps, not Mutators... And was filled to the brim with Microtransactions that I felt ruined the multiplayer... Halo 3/4 you earned your unlocks through time invested and achievements... I.E. You had Recon armor, you know someone worked hard for it.
Halo 5? You buy your way out.

It sucked.

*******

Don't forget to give: Halo: ODST a go, it's a standalone campaign using Halo 3's technology, really well done by Bungie. Great music and atmosphere.

There is also Halo: Spartan Assault and Halo: Spartan Strike which are twin stick shooters, also great fun with some extra story elements. - Sadly Spartan Strike remains the only Halo game never to go to a Xbox console, but it's playable on Windows/Windows Phone and iOS.

And of course... Halo Wars 1 and 2.

Halo Wars 1 was made by Ensemble Studios and is probably one of the best RTS games on console, it's actually got a super engaging story and graphically for an Xbox 360 game, has aged rather well with good rock-paper-scissor balance to the units.
The resource gathering and gameplay has been simplified as much as possible for consoles, but that plays to it's strengths if you are playing on console anyway.
But if you start comparing it to PC titles like StarCraft, Homeworld, Age of Empires (Also Ensemble Studios), Company of Heroes and more, it will seem shallow.
But worth playing just for the story and cinematic's to be honest... Which were absolutely brilliant.

Halo Wars 2 the story wasn't as nuanced as the first game, but mechanically had some big improvements, but sadly it had zero multiplayer population after the first day of the games release, I was never able to play the Multiplayer ever again because no one was playing it.

Worth playing only if you enjoyed the first game.

***********

And then of course... You have Halo: Infinite.
It's a open world with nothing in it, short story that made no real sense in the continuity side of things, unbalanced weapons...

Multiplayer released with the same issues as Halo 5. I.E. Lacking basic features like Split-Screen, Forge and a decent array of maps.
Multiplayer did fix some things, it's not based on a Microtransaction model and there was now value in fighting for control of certain areas of the map to strategically gain abilities/weapons just like Halo 3.

Visually the game is pretty average, held back by the Xbox One's technical capabilities... But the abhorrent animations from Halo 5 have definitely been smoothed out.

But overall I felt 343i didn't take -all- the criticisms of Halo 5 and learned from it to release a better game that fans expect, they just released the game they could.

It's still a good game, it's not a exceedingly great game that shared the heights of Halo 1, 2 and 3.

How did you play Halo 5? Via GamePass or outright buy it? Because it's not in the Master Chief Collection due to it being a DX12 game and while previous games were all DX11.
