Forums - Movies & TV - Alien Romulus

I meant to make a thread about this one ages ago, but life has been so hectic recently that I didn't have the time to go see it until today.

As someone who enjoyed the first three Alien movies but didn't like any of the entries after that, this is the first Alien film in over 30 years that I've really enjoyed. It's the scariest one since the original, to me anyway, it captured the dark grimy futurism of the early entries much better than other recent films, Cailee Spaeny was great in the lead role, direction and cinematography were well done, just a really entertaining horror flick.

Anybody else catch this one?

Looking forward to streaming it. I prefer to watch at home and wait for HDR too so I skip YouTube cause of compression and lack of HDR on films that visual experiences. I'm happy with waiting till it gets on Netflix, Prime or Disney. Hopefully this will be like Godzilla Minue one and use HDR to great effect like the bits when Godzilla goes blue and uses his breath, it was so visually impressive I watched those bits over and over again. Hopefully the Xenomorph will have sharp bright outlines after it comes out of pitch darkness and the Green acid will look all neon and shit.

It was a bit derivative but still like the 3rd or 4th best alien movie depending on whether you count Prometheus.

Of course, the bar was pretty low to clear.

I enjoyed it quite a bit, even if it hits predictable marks - but it was all the better for it imo.

Easily the best one since Aliens for me.

I really enjoyed Romulus! It wasn’t groundbreaking but it went back to the basics of Alien rather than the recent movies of Ridley Scott trying to ask the big questions of life lol.

I would place Romulus as my third favorite Alien movie behind the first 2, but just ahead of Prometheus and Alien 3.

Oh, actually a decent Alien movie again :) I'll have to remember to look for the 4K blu-ray.

I enjoyed both Prometheus and Covenant, not as much as the first two movies but I thought they were a decent watch. I'm looking forward to seeing Romulus, I'm not sure why I haven't seen it yet.

They were great, i'm the rare alien fan that loves Resurection, and both Prometheus and Covenant.  I actually missed Romulus in the theatre, and will have to catch it soon on streaming.

Will buy on DVD the day it releases.

What are the odds 2 Ressurection lovers are in the same thread.
