Right at the bottom it says
"Hopes among retailers that sales of electrical items would pick up ahead of the VAT increase failed to materialise, though department stores saw a 0.3% rise in business with the new Xbox Kinect selling well across the sector."
This is for the UK. The fact a financial business report mentioned Kinect by name in that vein is pretty good. Makes me wonder if VGC might have under-estimated the 360s numbers in Europe and more obviously UK.
I put up a preview for Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft shipments regarding trends to watch and what not. Its pretty basic but it looks at the good and bad for each.
Updating my model for SW breakdowns on Nintendo platforms, my estimate through December 2010 is this -
Wii is slowly closing in on DS software shipments. I have it ahead in the West as of this quarter by about 3% despite having a base of only 74m in the West vs. 113m in the West for DS. The difference is DS is at about 200m ltd for sw in Japan while Wii is much smaller so far.

Dec 2010 LTD Figures / Oct-Dec 10' Figures (HW) Quarterly SW / LTD SW
Wii - 84.64m / 8.74m : 85.33m / 695.37m
DS - 144.59m / 9.01m : 44.15m / 817.49m
PSP -
X360 -
PS3 -
PS2 -
The entire Wii base bought one game for the quarter on average. Not bad. Only 31% of the DS base bought a game for the quarter though, or all DS owners bought 0.31 games. Your choice.

Nintendo's data will be out fairly soon for the March 2011 quarter, and we'll get projections for the March 2012 year too.
Should be in 8-9 hours from this post.
