Shipments in millions by quarter & year for sw for all. By volume, the PS3 software market in Oct-Dec 2009 was as big as the Wii software market in Oct-Dec 2007. At the end of 2007, Wii shipments were 20.12m though...while at end of 2009 PS3 shipments were 33.52m. So 20 million Wii owners bought 2.4 games, while 33m PS3 owners bought 1.5 games.

Wii software is tracking well ahead of DS software going by aligned launches.

On an individual level, DS software purchases are quite low. But the base is so enormous that the market remains pretty big despite a sharp Christmas quarter decline.

Am I right to think that Wii HW shipments have hit 70 Million and DS roughly 129 Million. Oh and interesting SW numbers.

April 2009 to March 2010 results for Nintendo are coming May 6. We'll also get the forecast for the year ending March 2011.

We'll be getting 3DS, DS, Wii, PS3, PSP, PS2 (and maybe PSP2) projections when data for Nintendo / Sony arrives later in the month.

Wii is the biggest sw ecosystem Nintendo has ever produced in the Americas. Even throwing out Wii Sports, it will overtake DS next quarter.

PS3 HW flat (+/-10%)

PSP2??

PS3 + PSP + PS2 SW down by 10-20%, to ~175m.

Microsoft's fiscal years end in June and they don't issue forecasts...but can't imagine they expect to ship something other than ~8-12m systems for the period ending March 2011

My guess is Sony cuts price to $250 or $200 in Fall 2010 and this is the peak PS3 year for hw, and a flat / slightly up year for sw. Thoughts?
