I think most people are crying out for new more powerful hardware, so the Switch 2 is very hyped.

I have about 10 games I've yet to open and about 20 more to buy so unless the Switch 2 is fully backwards compatible and is surprisingly affordable then I'll be waiting a while.

Yeah, that isn't how business works. If their code works for the ps4, ps5, xbox series s, series x, deck, ally, legion, etc... There isn't motivation to optimize for a single piece of hardware that is outdated, unless there are foresights indicating the switch will have a disproportionate number of sales. This was my point about the switch 2 in general. Can and will are two different aspects and business isn't about feelings, it is about money. If optimization isn't worth the investment (or they don't have capacity), it isn't happening. Doesn't matter if it is technically feasible. |
The point of a console is to optimize for one set of hardware.
And they have to optimize either way.
What we need to do as consumers is stop buying terribly made ports, irrespective of platform.

Agreed, which is why I'm going Plucky, and most other third party, on Steam and not Switch.
I don't buy inferior versions of games just because of brand affiliation.

Gotta say, even if I personally am content with the current hardware it does not affect me when the next Nintendo Switch releases. I will simply keep on playing all the great things I have left on the current system.
I have like 40+ games yet to play on my switch (since I had a baby I couldnt touch it as much I was willing), and some of them are hundred hours RPGs.
So, I can wait. Probably not at launch, but as soon I get a good deal, or on the release of a very anticipated game.
