Yea it's trash on ps5. this is like a switch port level of downgrade as far as i'm concerned.

To be fair to the ps5, the gpu is about the same performance as a 2070s from 2019.
It isn't reasonable to expect consoles to ever run head to head with PC. It has never happened because by default consoles are using old and some what outdated hardware.
Consoles shine via bang for the buck, not high end performance.

The game is not optimized well. I'm watching footage of both games from youtube on my 4k tv and ragnarok holds up well on ps5 against a 4090 black myth and i go back and fourth on which looks better. U5 does help game development and can make developers that are not that skilled make amazing looking games but at the cost of needing really powerful hardware. as U5 gets better maybe we will actually be able to look great on ps5 pro. |
Ragnarok "holds up" well because it is a mid tier game for PC that isn't using advance features.
The more modern the game the more advantage PC has.
Hades holds up well on the switch versus ps5.... because the game isn't advance. Ragnarok is no different when comparing to PC.

When i say it holds up well i'm talking about the perceived graphical difference. I think you discount the high level of optimization a skilled developer can do vs a unskilled developer. We come to the point where you need massive amounts of power just to get a slightly better looking game, and i'm not one of these people that say ps3 vs ps4 jump was not massive to me it was.
Hades is not wowing anyone graphically lol. like I can see people looking at GOW:ragnorak and black myth on 4090 and saying GOW:ragnorak looks better to them based on the footage i been watching and looking at both.

Yeah I know, I always click performance on PRO bit have you seen the level of fuzz in performance mode on Wukong, it's worse than not having 60. When everything is moving then it looks like someone smeared oil all over the characters. It's vomit inducing. Again. I'm praying for a PRO announcement. I thought Gamescom opening night would be the spot but I guess we're waiting another year. :( |
The PS5 Pro should get announced soon. The PS4 Pro was announced in early September 2016 just a couple months before it came out and it's getting about time for another Playstation Showcase to happen since the PS5's 2025 lineup is pretty unknown right now so its reveal being a part of that would make sense.

While I agree with the overall sentiment that is the case for every console generation.
GTA San Andreas on the PS2 was 25 fps. Most PS3/X360 games were 720p or sub 720p and 30 fps. Same thing with the PS4 and XBO except that 900-1080p was the norm instead, so not a huge leap.
If anything this gen has by far and large the best running games. Almost all of them have a 60 fps mode which hadn't been the case since like the NES. So you might be judging them a bit unfairly.
So let's see how the game performs on the PC (source: 3DCenter.org):
Wukong @ maxQ + maxRT + Upscaling 66% | FullHD/1080p | WQHD/1440p | 4K/2160p |
---|---|---|---|
GeForce RTX 4090 | 85,5 fps | 63,7 fps | 35,7 fps |
GeForce RTX 4080 Super | 68,0 fps | 47,9 fps | 25,5 fps |
GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super | 58,1 fps | 40,3 fps | 21,8 fps |
GeForce RTX 4070 Super | 52,5 fps | 35,3 fps | 18,3 fps |
GeForce RTX 4070 | 43,9 fps | 29,8 fps | 15,3 fps |
GeForce RTX 3090 Ti | 35,8 fps | 23,9 fps | 12,5 fps |
If you think a PS5/XBoxX can match any of that, good luck.
I see people playing it on PS5 (non-pixelcounters, apparently) which are happy with it.
Of course, Digital Foundry is an almost constant shitposter when it comes to anything PS5, so no surprise here.

Permalite has been trying to explain this to you. Black Myth use more advanced graphic techniques for lighting, particles and volumetric. The reason the ps5 struggles with Black Myh is it doesn't have the power, period.
You seem to confuse personal preference with technical achievement. GoW is mid tier. Black Myth is top shelf. (Technically)
The reason the gap is close with GoW is because it isn't a technical masterpiece.
You underestimate hardware requirements.
I'll leave one last example.
Ori on the Switch is comparable to a 4090.
Witcher 3 on the Switch is not comparable to a 4090.
Using the two examples above, developer talent has nothing to do with it. Witcher 3 simply requires way more power than Ori.
GoW, from a technical perspective, is no Black Myth.

I know black myth wukong is more technically advanced. Just from a visual stand point to my eyes i honestly don't which one looks better to me. Also optimization can sometimes do wonders. I'll give you a example avatar game on ps5 technically demanding yet runs much better, so does alan wake 2, and hell blade.

That is odd. Because you started this thread based on the premise Black Myth was a "massive step up." So you have changed your mind?
You probably shouldn't. I've read quite a few articles and it seems universal, Black Myth is a massive step up.
Just my 2 cents, ragnorak gets smoked by Black Myth.
Edit
I think the larger point is people need to be fair to consoles. A 4090 is $1600 by itself. A ps5 is $500... of course a 4090 slaughters. People wouldn't pay top dollar of there was no difference.
Meaning when you consider the price of the ps5, it is pretty damn impressive.
